Too much spacing between characters in mobile Edge

Issue Summary

I found the bug in this issue. In Edge for Android mobile, there are excess spacing between characters, but this does not occur in Edge for Windows.

Steps to Reproduce:

$$\mathit{xyz}\operatorname{sgn}\sin xyz$$

On Edge for Windows (expected): Edge for Windows

On Edge for Android mobile (unexpected excess spacing): Edge for Android mobile

Technical details:

  • MathJax Version: 3
  • Client OS: Android 10
  • Browser: Edge 101.0.1210.53

Supporting information:

If you view this webpage on mobile Edge, the math is not rendered the same as on desktop.
