underset in inline equation

the inline equation $\underset{i\ge k}{\bigcup}$ produce "i \ge k" under \bigcup in texlive, but using mathjax, it's on the lower right, unless \displaystyle is added.

however, $\underset{i\to \infty}{\lim}$ will work as expected.
