What will happen in your session?
The participants can dive into lives of peoples who manage waste. An engaging walk through a display of stories that come alive with light, sound & touch; these interactive installation will help you live the life of your waste after it been discarded & witness the lives of those who deal with it. As participants experience these lives, they will be encouraged to discuss systems of waste management being used in their parts of the globe, and tweet about it to the world. And who knows, this can be the starting of a repository of ideas empowered by inputs from across the globe for all kinds of waste management.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
To sensitize people to the problem of waste generation, and how it not only impacts the environment, but also many-a-times treats badly the very people who help resolve it. Some case studies will focus on the tough and bleak labour practices of these trades while at the same time encouraging participants to ideate and contribute to an online repository based on suggestions on innovative waste management practices. Often the people on whom these stories are based are digitally illiterate. It should be, therefore, an eye-opening exercise for us waste-makers to witness the work of waste-collectors, and give them a digital voice through our conscience.
