Sure, if the Western response to Russia's genocidal war of European conquest was based on a humanitarian concern for suffering. But here you have invented a strawman.

A war in Yemen between Iran-backed rebels and Saudi Arabia for the internationally recognized government of Yemen doesn't have nearly the same Western security implications.

Highly doubtful that any of this steady drip leak are coming from CSIS. Russia and China are both deep into this kind of manipulations. But the plotting is all on them. If politicians knowingly took money from them then they should be investigated. Otherwise this is just another smear campaign against Liberals conveniently forgetting other partys might have received money too.

I can see only three paths here that are feasible(ish) with the current positions of the parties.

  • UK dumps Northern Ireland and NI becomes a separate nation and Brexit goes through

  • Irish reunification under the Good Friday Agreement with a hard barrier in the Irish Sea

  • Brexit fails as the EU won't accept a sucker deal.

I know where Transnistria is.... It's in Moldova. Not a single (non-russian) UN entity recognizes ANY claim by russia on this region as legitimate. Regardless of whether russians are there not or not does not make any claim legitimate. Hell, the russians are in the Donbass... should we recognize that as well?

My point is the same... the russians are stirring up trouble so that they can "come to the rescue"... just like they are trying right now in Ukraine. So... any attempt by russia to "claim" they are simply protecting their own is total bullshit. They shouldn't be there in the first place. And if Moldova asks NATO for help, they should get it.
