Does anyone remember the early mid 2010s when Pakistanis were talking about China Pakistan Economic Corridor like it would solve all their problems and make Pakistan so economically advanced it would leave India way way behind.

Ther terms "game changer", "checkmating the west and India", "iron brothers" etc were embarrassingly used in every Pakistani news publication.

I have fond memories of arguing on reddit with some Pakistanis that were convinced that CPEC will steal all IT jobs in India. (Like how?)

Anyway, let this be a lesson. If something sounds too good to be true, it's because it is.

Oh found this nugget:

>CPEC's potential impact on Pakistan has been compared to that of the Marshall Plan undertaken by the United States in post-war Europe. Pakistani officials predict that CPEC will result in the creation of upwards of 2.3 million jobs between 2015 and 2030, and add 2 to 2.5 percentage points to the country's annual economic growth.

People without physics knowledge also are often surprised that almost everything is radioactive, and I’m some cases standing next to another human, is technically more dangerous radioactively.

Tell VRE and MRSA that.

It's like Darwinism for bacteria. The strongest survive and become more resilient. I don't think it's comparable to bullet resistance.

The CCP have their own second separate language for political negotiations

.. one word could mean multiple words .. doublespeak .. ambiguity .. saying phrases which could have multiple meanings seems to be a specialty of theirs .. so a "promise" is not really anything

.. the Chinese media in Beijing still classifies NATO as "the provocateurs" and never really mention the Feb 24 invasion .. that is all you really need to know

.. the CCP could easily send Fat Kim weapons and have him send his old stuff to Putin and cover their tracks

As someone who grew up under a regime backed by the Soviets that drove the country to the ground, and which replaced a regime backed by the French during which the country had a somewhat adequate level of development, hoping for anything from the Russians is an absolute idiocy. The gap in standard of livings between my youth and my parents' youth was abysmal, and not all of that is because of corruption (because the French-backed regime was corrupt as well).

I don't know enough about China to have an informed opinion.

don’t you have something better to do then stalk me on Reddit ? seems like your the paranoid one. why are you so afraid of the world finding out about the crimes committed in Palestine ? the human rights abuses and violations committed daily by the IDF ? It’s clear as day that anyone making any comment on a matter reported on here about Israel is downvoted to shit. I for one am not scared to voice my opinion nor do I give a fuck if your Jewish or not. you could be any religion in Israel and I wouldn’t give a fuck. it’s the fact that anything negative done by Israel is automatically considered anti-Semetic. That excuse is getting old. your crimes committed against the innocent people of Palestine will always be a subject I’m interested in and you can’t shut me up so suck my dick.

Lukashenko has desperately avoided going to war so far. If he wanted to be in the war already, he would have. But he can’t. He knows it would be so wildly unpopular at home, it might just be the thing that finally shakes him of the throne. iirc, even the belarusian military is very against it. They are the one group he can’t piss off, especially now that the russian military is struggling with other things
