I don’t see how Lukashenko can win here? Like half his Army hates him and Russia. Who do you sent to Ukraine? The ones hating u? They won’t fight the Ukrainians, they might just go AWOL and deliver Ukraine some equipment. The ones that will fight for you? Who will protect you in the country then? Russian troops? Well the ones in Ukraine or the ones inside Russia to suppress the Russian public potentially? That would be the end to his reign and he knows this, as dumb as he may seem, this is the only reason why he hasn’t sent any troops yet, even going against Putin

Honestly, I'm loving how forthcoming the US has been recently. Yea, they've lied in the past and continue to lie. But most of the intelligence they have been releasing the last couple of years have been dead on. It's nice seeing these countries being called out, denying it, and then doing exactly what the US said they were gonna do.

See, this is what I meant when I said that it is a bit more complicated. You are right that it's not as simple as I would like it to be, saying that myself in my comment; however, both you and me don't truly have a grasp on how complex it really is.
It probably did come off a bit rough when I said "wannabe intellectual" because it may seem like I consider myself an "actual intellectual" trying to put down contradicting positions, but really it was meant to be an acknowledgement that we all aren't intellectuals. My position has never been more useful than the position of every other average internet user, but I still thought it was worth mentioning ^^

Well, we've known about this for years and haven't bothered to do anything so far. What are the chances we act before it becomes a problem when acting is inconvenient?

The current MIC also doesn't account for the massive amounts of companies, and some of those massive companies themselves, being switched to full production of military goods in a war economy. In that case, human waves would uh....yea I guess we could call them "inefficient" let's go with that.

Reply to comment by hamsamith in Thunberg, Indigenous protesters block Norway energy ministry over wind farms by p4177y
Nuance can be difficult sometimes. Wind farms are good for the environment because they can reduce a country’s use of fossil fuels, which lead to pollution in the air and all that comes with it, especially warming characteristics. However, if a wind farm causes harm to a wildlife population that is essential to the lifestyle of an indigenous population, then it doesn’t seem to help the environment that much, does it? So, if we instead put it somewhere where it doesn’t have this effect, it should provide a net good, as is the purpose of building wind farms in the first place. “We” still think wind farms are generally good, because “we” can think situationally and not treat every scenario as a black and white issue. “We” are capable of reading articles and allowing new evidence to enter our brains and modify our conclusions to be more accurate.

The one confirmed candidate is a provincial Liberal, but supposedly there are Liberal and Conservative candidates involved. Obviously we need to keep a better eye on fundraising and influence.

Yeah I'm sure exporting almost nothing to Mali, and sending 40 million in aid in 2020 alone is massively lining one's pockets....

The headline and article are a bit misleading. The quote simply says there are 1.5 million military aged men in Belarus.
They can't effectively mobilize all those men. Their professional military is tiny and poorly equipped.

The money wasn't all going to Trudeau's family. Not even close. I'd say there is a serious case of truth stretching going on here. There are elements of this that smell bad, but not like you're saying.

I take it that also includes financial aid and migration treaties which lets countries have relaxed rules for studying abroad?
Seems like people always forget about those, and are offended on behalf of those countries.
