Yes. That's when NATO adopted the Membership Action Plan(MAP).

Note that the preamble ends with the following line: "The programme cannot be considered as a list of criteria for membership."

These are guidelines, not hard criteria.

And again, it's about showing the commitment to resolving these types of conflicts according to international law. Ukraine has shown this to be the case. The fact that a hostile power has illegally invaded them doesn't change that.

The idea that NATO can not accept prospective members if they have a territorial dispute is a propaganda tool that primarily serves Russian interests.

The first benefits by sowing the seeds of doubt in both its own and western audiences. It lets Russia paint NATO as a warmongering alliance that's either trying to provoke Russia or inadvertently about to get dragged into WW3 by considering an application from countries like Ukraine. At the same time, NATO governments concerned about exactly that sort of thing can also use this misconception about the rules by shrugging and saying 'well everyone knows we can't accept someone with ongoing disputes'; even though this is a lie (or misrepresentation at best).

According to the article, the White House has confirmed that no Chinese weapons have been sent to Russia.

We should all be glad that China resents the implication that they were going to send weapons, and be mindful that Russia's disinformation network is extensive, and has a vested interest in goading China this way, to make headlines that will sound hypocritical in China.

The fatigue is in knowing about those consequences and being completely incapable of doing anything about it.

We all know what the problems with the climate is and that they need to be fixed, but politicians continue to do nothing. The panic fades into the realization that this is probably inevitable.

Like at this point we’ve proved climate change is an issue like 20 different ways and people are still fighting it. I don’t think there is literally anything that can be said or done that will convince all the climate denial idiots, maybe they’ll accept reality once they run out of water.

The U.S. snd other Western intelligence agencies seem to be very good at what they do. They also called the Russian invasion of Ukraine when everyone else said that was propaganda. The strategy of releasing information on Russia's plans on the battlefield, forcing them to change strategies worked very well. I believe what they say about China. I also see why Trump was so scared of them.

Oh I think this a human rights atrocity. I am not familiar enough with the situation to declare my takes as factual or one that should be used as evidence. It seems like this is a death trap. There will be a lot of violence. This is the kind of stuff nightmares are made of. I don’t know if everyone in there is evil but some will witness it, some will be victims of it, and some will become it. If I were in there I’d find the fastest way to kill myself.

That makes more sense. Police officers without proper training, upbringing and systems in place that keep checks on the forces themselves will get desensitized to violence, brutality and illegal practices.

Constantly justifying fucked up events they performed, had to witness, were coerced to participate in, were victims of or had to keep silent about changes the moral compass and changes the way they think about wrong actions.
