Reply to comment by AffectionatePrompt41 in India should send stronger message to Russia, use G20 Presidency: Ukrainian MP by Falls_stuff
The thing is India do not care about the invasion that much to begin with, so it is funny for that Ukrainian MP to demand India sending a stronger message. On top of that, India certainly does welcome the cheaper fuels, not because they hate Ukraine, but because cheaper fuels.
Now is India bad in not caring? The West think so, but I would say the West are naïve in expecting other countries to care more about a war in Europe than say a war in Africa.

This seems to be their thing. Make a dozen~ of the new 'super weapon' or machine and call it a day, then freak out when its shown to be decent at best and they need hundreds of them and cant make them quickly.

Or 1 million soldiers die from friendly fire, starvation, environmental conditions (freezing), overdosing, disease, infighting, and general injury from poor troop movement/management with a complete breakdown of supply lines.
Attrition is a major soldier killer. Its most effective when an army is undersupplied, unprepared, and undisciplined.
Guess what the Russian army is.
All of that also ignores that zerging doesnt work when attempting to occupy a location. When the guerrilla civilian fighters are better equipped both with weapons, equipment, intelligence, and communications, you have a serious problem. Theres a reason you dont invade cities. A city on the defensive is at a significant advantage vs an invading force.

I think it’s worth considering that the scientific community has learned from the mistakes made during the early days of covid. Science reporting has long been known to lose a lot in translation, but I think there’s a fine line between keeping people informed and putting out incomplete information that will be turned into scare pieces.

Reply to comment by eggandbaconpie in EU boss Ursula von der Leyen to meet King while in UK for Brexit talks by Astroblemes
I know, it's the die hard Brexit supporters who are getting annoyed that the two are meeting, because they don't want to sign the new deal on the NI protocol.
They're accusing the PM of involving the head of state in politics but the deal has been all but agreed anyway and Charles would have zero influence, as the EU already want to strike a deal.
It's the same people who would claim to be incensed if Von Der Leyen didn't meet Charles under different circumstances.
They're a bunch of disingenuous dicks.

Not just protests. The Belarus Army is far worse equipped and less experienced than the Russian army was at the start of the war.
The better equipped and more loyal / trustworthy troops are what keeps Luka in power. Can’t afford to lose them.
The less well-equipped troops are of dubious loyalty and motivation and might even defect. Can’t afford to risk that happening.
What they can do is periodically move troops around and make blustery noises and force Ukraine to keep some troops in the North just in case. That’s basically free. So they keep doing that.

Not gonna happen! Lukaschenko is only in power because the new president elect was forced into exile, not because the Belarussian people got his back. Arming 1.5 million people would mean arming those that despite you. I would even bet that as soon as they cross Ukrainian borders they would turn around and start fighting the Russians. Belarussians sabotaged their own railways leading to Ukrainia early into the war, they have people voluntarily fighting in Ukrainia for Ukrainia already. This thread is just scare tactics as they know this will be Lukaschenkos end and will rather end in a disaster for Russia.

Well let's make the scenario more accurate; the arsonist also has a bomb strong enough to blow up the entire neighborhood, and so do your neighbors. The arsonist has stated multiple times that if your neighbors directly involve themself in the arson attack, he will detonate the bomb, and your neighbors would detonate their bombs too because of mutually assured destruction. So to avoid killing everyone in the neighborhood who have nothing to do with this, your neighbors all send you advanced fire-fighting suits, hoses, and supply you with tons of water. They also work to get the arsonist fired from his job so he can't afford as much gasoline to pour on your house, and get a number of people to agree to stop selling him luxury items.
That's more accurate.
