You're absolutely right about the echo chamber thing, though u/Durumbuzafeju was pointing out the fact that they only got 54% of votes (and that's even lower proportion of the voting population's support since a large amount just didn't vote) despite having complete control over state media outlets (that is, parties in the opposition got 5 minutes each in total to demonstrate their campaign on state television) and having bought up many other formerly indepentent magazines and journals (see CEPMF). If, with all this spending and effort on exposure (having invested millions upon millions on CEPMF, Facebook and YouTube ads and so on), they still only get 3,000,000 votes in a country of 9.6 million, it really means that people aren't as supportive as it may seem at first.

Are you crazy or just puerile?

America is a favorite for India and most Indians, however that being said.
America is like the popular high school girl whom you can't take for granted, she will oblige you ONLY if she has no other options on hand.

Btw, the western countries were apathetic towards our terrorism related problems for the longest time, I think India is just reciprocating the whole "It's every man, woman and child for themselves" policy.

India is not happy with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but it needs oil, simple and clear. It won't take the moral high ground and make the citizens suffer.

I imagine this has been a wake-up for many Taiwanese. Years ago I read an article saying most Taiwanese believed they stand no chance against China, and that was considered Taiwan's greatest weakness. Not their military, but their perceived chances. While US-based analysts actually thought that Taiwan COULD win against China because of the geography, potentially superior military tech, and China's lack of military experience, many Taiwanese assumed Taiwan would fall fast. Ukraine probably faced worse odds with a less defensive geography, much worse hardware and was supposedly facing the world's second best military, but Ukraine has done very well. Much of it due to the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people.

Now I imagine many Taiwanese see that actually invading a country is not so easy, and the motivation of the defenders is vital. So if China did attack, Taiwan does stand a real chance. They are not alone, and they can hold them off if they choose to fight fearlessly. Ukraine stronk! Taiwan number one!

edit: and Ukraine's win is vital for Taiwan's future. When Russia loses, that will show China that DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.

I think the reference is to this week's United Nations General Assembly resolution on demanding Moscow withdraw its troops from Ukraine and end the fighting. 7 voted against: Russia, Belarus, N.Korea etc. 32 abstained. India, along with China, was one of the countries that refused to condemn the invasion. So it is hypocritical of India to blame China for being consistent in its position.
