Also, Progressive gave a pretty substantial discount for paying the entire 6 months up front. It's obviously not an option for everyone, but it ended up saving me more than 20% overall.

I literally switched this past Friday night from GEICO to Progressive. Our fees had continually climbed and Progressive was able to offer the exact same comprehensive+collision coverage + deductibles for half the price GEICO wanted to charge.
Although, I'm not sure how much this has to do with the difference in the companies versus it just being time to change given the messed up business model of the industry.
They say you should look into switching insurance companies every single year, which is simply mind-boggling to me. But, I was able to get a significantly reduced quote going through the process with GEICO as a potential "new" customer and putting coverage in my name (it had been in my wife's) — so it does seem to track.

State Farm was by far the cheapest for me, but YMMV depending on a lot of factors!

Each time I’ve looked, the owners of those stores live an hour away in Maryland or Virginia. I’m not surprised that they want a personal highway but I doubt it’s representative of their customers or employees.

Used to have Geico and switched to Progressive after Geico upped my rates by like $200 with no change (no new accidents, etc.), but I saved by using one of their tracker devices.

If you don't have access to USAA, try Amica. I previously used Traveler's as well, but have been with USAA for a decade.

They’re all expensive now. I picked Liberty Mutual because they gave me the best price, but they jacked up my rate $120 this year. Even so, they’re still giving me a better price than others.

GEICO has been jacking up their rates in the area, so many folks have been moving away from them. Progressive and Erie seem to be popular choices.

Insurance is different for everyone. It's dependent on your location, driving record, claims history, car type and age. I'd recommend an insurance broker as they have access to many companies they can quote and get you the best price.

And yet all the storefronts there have signs oppose bike lanes, which will probably bring them more business than not.

The older neighborhood residents with the money don’t want it to be a destination neighborhood for nightlife. They make it very difficult— also the rents are very high.

according to business record databases, there were more businesses in CP in 1940 than in 1990. Where are you getting your numbers from? I'm pretty suspicious of your data.

hahahahha. 'gentrified' - isn't a detached home there on average 3M? I mean you can't gentrify if you are one of the richest neighborhoods around and are super white.
