I see posts about every other crime in DC but no mention of this.

Notice my very deliberate wording haha, this is a good clarification.

I'd say Kin Da is good but not great. I go there a lot because it's convenient (walking distance from where I live), but if I want more variety I order delivery from Charm Thai in Silver Spring.

Wait till you find out where Yiddish comes from.
But, Heidelberg is definitely an amazing pastry shop.

Capitol Hill Supermarket for their sandwiches - still under 10 dollars. probably the only deli left in the city with that price

Bethesda has 2 really exceptional corner stores - both are metro accessible so while not in DC they’re still pretty easy to get to. First is Hinata carryout - they have floor to ceiling imported Japanese goods and a sushi counter in the back. Solid place to get some frozen dumplings and a little treat. Other spot worth stopping for is Ege Market. It’s a Turkish and Mediterranean corner store with some of the best halva I’ve ever had, plus fresh pastries and Turkish coffee behind the counter.

They closed because of repeated food safety issues.

OP: Baan Siam is definitely the answer, but they don’t serve Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles. Go and be amazed. If you really like those specific dishes, Thai Square on Columbia Pike in Arlington is good - and also has a good deal of menu items that are harder-to-find (e.g. quite a few Thai noodle soups).

Bua on P Street. 25+ years of their pad Thai and I want more. They know what they are doing!

I love argyle - good for a breakfast sandwich on the weekend (especially if I’m not in the mood to pay Ellē/La Tejana prices and just want something basic) and a strong beer selection.

Idk if this counts as a corner store but Wine & Butter on Cap Hill. They have great sandwiches, pastries, coffee, desserts, and all sorts of cool stuff if you go inside.
