Not a corner store, but Capital Supermarket on 11th NW (between M & N) has a great selection of Central American cheeses and other goods, Mexican chocolate, animal cuts that require extra love and attention - tripe, tongue, etc., and a good selection of Ethiopian and Korean products (the owners are Korean).

Pantry in Petworth is decent, and they also have sushi, which is always a bonus. Thai X-ing, which is more about authentic, home-style Thai cusine, is amazing, and closing soon, so you should check it out while you can. It's a great experience.
