Thai Pad is my go-to for affordable 8/10 Thai food, everything on their menu is good. 10 being Michelin star status

Paragon Thai in NW 100% is my answer. I used to get takeout from them once a week before reigning in my spending lol. Great portions and great flavors. Consistency is pretty good. I do think sometimes they have a different kitchen staff that makes the food slightly different but 9/10 times it’s so good (the other 10% it isn’t bad, just not quite as good? Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, the Tofu Lover dish, their curry, their mango sticky rice. All of it I love. Oh their Brussel sprouts too! My partner lived in Thailand for a few months and has said this is the best Thai she’s had since moving back to the States.

Aww so glad my post helped you find this place! It really is a hidden treasure, especially since there’s a distinct lack of relaxed and “homey” coffee shops in this part of town.

We went there on Jan 21. There weren’t a lot of people there and it seemed like there were only 3 people working. We guessed it was a husband and wife and one of their mothers, but the food was fantastic.

I stopped by today at this suggestion! I've lived in the neighborhood for a long while and am kicking myself that my regular stroll had me turning one block too early.

Truly the definition of a hidden gem.

Salumeria in Brookland has really good Italian goods and foods. Though not sure if that ends up being more of a specialty market and not a corner store.

Beau Thai in Mt. Pleasant is excellent
