Its overpriced for sure but Odd Provisions on 11th and Lamont has good quality stuff and its very charming. They have a good deal where you can get two of their bottom shelf wines for $20, and theyve got decent ones if you know what to look for!

She did that regularly on the weekends.
They should have given her a contract for the national gig. Now she’s gone to their competitor.

Contact a CBO that can help with tenant services. There are tenant right organizers that will get together with you and neighbors and discuss your options and help you face the landlord. For free LEDC, HCS, La Casa, etc. Let me know if you want me to connect you with any of them. ☺️

Where is this rowhouse that a non-profit operates out of that is a 25 minute walk from Metro? That’s really not that bad anyway - only about a mile.

Okay? DC is not the one saying DC residents don't have a vote. That's decided by Congress.

To park you need a license which means you lose your voting rights if you vote in another state.

DC doesn't require anyone to lose their voting rights. That's decided by Congress - and as you noted no one who lives in DC has a vote.

Yes, some renters insurance policies will have additional living expenses (ALE) that will cover you.
Also, if the repairs are a part of an insurance claim, and if the landlord has an policy that states that this property is a rental property - their insurance would help as well. But that’s as long as the landlord has the correct policy (I don’t think there’s a law saying that they have to have that type of policy)

Totally, I'm still waiting on official notice, and I'm glad to be communicated too, but to be honest the reason this is even a problem is because he had under the table repair people improperly install the water heater so I'm not feeling too bad for him.

thanks for confirming. I left a message with OTA as well, so hopefully they'll get back to me with some details.

Everything is hypothetical until your landlord gives you the official info. He probably needs time to schedule the repair people, figure out where to house people, etc.
From what I can see, the landlord is behaving reasonably so far and is actually communicating way better than many I’ve seen.

Black Lion in columbia heights might fit the bill. Avoid buying standard products (all overpriced) but they have a good selection of spices sold in bulk containers. They also sell a lot of traditional ethiopian food and cookware. In the back, there is a butcher counter but it's only operating occasionally and I believe they cater to the ethiopian community as well (not sure exactly what they stock).
They sell solid sambusas by the cash register too. I always find something interesting when I pop by.
