Can you explain what you mean by "$20 bucks in transfers"?

The nerve of the landlord to try this is truly wild.

That's what ROSA is for, but you still can't get a permit. Those are the rules because DC is clogged with cars and they want to be able to provide space for people who live in the city year-round. Street permits are hugely subsidized for full-time residents. If you don't like it, you could live part time in the suburbs instead.

Imagine that, some people live two places. What a meme bike boy you are. And people wonder why no one pays their tickets. Just charge for the permit and youll actually have people pay, no one wants to lose voting rights for no benefit

You're not a resident if you haven't changed your residency. DC wants less cars. You don't like the rules, don't live in the city.

City pay for it? By ticketing a lawful resident that doesnt want to lose their voting rights or their car? Great solution

You are in no way shape or form required to drive. There's metro, the bus, Lime scooters, the Bikeshare. Just because you prefer to drive doesn't mean the city has to pay for it.

It isn't the job of the city to subsidize a suburban car commute. Residents come first.

This! Even though he's making repairs, removing you from your dwelling, he needs to provide reasonable accommodations for you while repairs are made.

They could definitely find a way for people who live half time here and half time elsewhere to not lose their voting rights just to park.

If you have renters insurance, that often covers these sorts of situations

Uh yeah. It's a city with a very limited amount of space. If they didn't it'd be overrun by commuters in 5 seconds. The residential parking takes a lot of space from other projects as is.

You're better off walking from the metro. Driving is gonna cost you out the ass

Your landlord needs to provide you alternative accommodations.

> I’m one of few employees, so I wouldn’t be taking away a spot from anyone who needed it more, since I am not a DC resident and don’t have the option to bike or walk.
There’s a finite amount of curb space and you don’t live there so this line of reasoning doesn’t make sense. Tell your employer to provide transit benefits.

>do nonprofits/business get parking permits if they own the residential building,
If you live and register your vehicle at that address, then yes. You're a resident and can get an RPP.
If you don't, then no, you're not a resident and can't get an RPP.

You’re screwed. Source: had the same issue for a while.
For whatever reason DC requires you to lose your voting rights to park on the street.

Your submission appears to be asking about parking.
Your first resources are available here and here.
Unless you are in a residential area of the city, there is no such thing as reliably free and easy long-term parking. Please read parking signs carefully, even locals get confused sometimes.
Useful apps for parking include ParkMobile for street parking and SpotHero for garage spaces.
Visiting a friend in the city? Ask them for a free visitor parking pass from any MPD station.
Did you receive a ticket? Are you guilty? If so, pay it. Pictures and incorrect information doesn't matter.
Parking resources for:
- American / Catholic / Gallaudet / Howard / GWU / Georgetown University
- Cap One Arena / Nats Ballpark / Audi Field
- The Capitol / City Center / the National Mall / Union Market / the Wharf

I had to leave my apartment so they could tear out a wall and fix the plumbing. My landlord prorated my rent and put me up somewhere else. They gave me all these details when I got the official notice I would have to leave my apartment for a week.
