I’m a huge bird nerd and have been anxiously awaiting the Bird House to re-open. Your piece of art is incredible. I love the character that went into the birds. I hope this makes them seem more approachable for kids too. Birds are often not the most exciting to children while at the zoo, when there are lions and tigers to wide-eyed gaze at. I was a weird and wonderful kid who liked all the unique animals, so birds have always had a place and my heart and hope this new exhibit and your art opens up the varied species to so many others as well.

Agree with that and really glad we have all those in the region. But there are loads of lists that rank the whole area, including suburbs, and we can look at those when we want to venture out of the District (and have a car, want to pay lots of ride fare or spend lots of time on metro and/or bus).

Looks like OP is doing a true District-best rather than a best-of-within-25-miles and want to say I appreciate the approach. Excited to know more about places I can easily walk or bike to in the District!

Not limited to them in general. The newest influx of teenagers are riddled with social media brain rot and being mentally stunted from being locked inside for 2 years. Also they have terrible parents who blame everyone but themselves for doing a bad job raising them.

$1300+/month for 3 people. We have some dietary restrictions that drives the budget up a bit. We shop at MOM’s pretty exclusively.

Although I think it’s possible for singles in their 20s to eat cheap, I’d encourage everyone who believes they spend <$200/month to look at their card statements because it’s always higher than you think

Sports leagues are good. DC Rugby lets people practice with no experience and even if you don't want to play going to their matches is a good way to make friends. They were advertising on the sub today so they shouldn't be hard to find. There's a ton of other intramural leagues as well.

Grad school is also still college so you'll still kind of have forced relations. A lot of feds are still hybrid/remote so DC can be a difficult place to meet new people. I would look towards your university first. If you need a friend, you can always DM for a drink.

Homicides dropped in 2022 after there was a huge increase in 2020 and 2021 though. You have to go back to 2003 before any year had more homicides than 2022 (other than 2021). https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/district-crime-data-glance

Year to date, DC has had 35 homicides, compared to 25 from this time last year. I'm not sure this supports your assertion. Last year may not have been a change in trend either, unfortunately. Time will tell
