Also remember that you’re an adult, this isn’t elementary school, you’re paying the trainer, and you can do as much or as little as you like. Follow the instructions, don’t disrupt the class in any way, and ignore the yelling. Work harder as your strength increases.

After a 6-year transformation of the 1928 building, National Zoo’s Bird House reopens on March 13. The exhibition highlights the journeys of migratory songbirds, waterfowl and shorebirds integral to North, Central, and South American ecosystems.

The original entrance was preserved and the exhibition built within the walls of the Zoo’s historic Bird House. The towering mosaic is made with polychrome concrete and is imbedded with glass and colored marbles. It was designed and fabricated by local artisan John Joseph Early.

In the illustration, a pair of barred owls, bronze turkeys and a shorebird walk the space in their best attires.

I'd never been to a gym/class of any sort but signed up for Orange Theory when they opened near me. Seems intimidating at first but you can kinda make it as intense or as chill as you want, moment-to-moment. What I like about it is that it's fast paced enough that truly nobody is worried about anyone but themselves. I will occasionally notice someone going extra hard or just sitting there panting, but really I'm just worried about me.

A few months in and I'm just barely getting to the point I actually want to go, because I kinda have my own rhythm there now and don't totally feel like a fish out of water. It definitely doesn't seem like the sort of "anti CrossFit" you're asking for but in my experience it's way more choose your own adventure than advertised.

Pilates is always a good option. I really like reformer classes- reformation fitness has two locations w/ the reformer. Barre might be a good option too. Barre 3 has several dc locations and as s whole is good about modifications.

You might like RTR Pilates. They have a location in McArhtur in the Palisades and another near the Friendship Heights Metro. With the intro offer, you can try a lot of different classes and instructors for a month to see how well it works for you.

Not sure why you're being downvoted, it's true. And tip culture is really a terrible practice - pay your employees a fair wage, set your prices accordingly, any tip should then be optional (no expected 20+%). That's how it's done in the rest of the world (here in Europe I just round up and rarely tip more than a few dollars), and quite frankly it makes eating out a much more pleasant experience.

>Trying to solve an employer/employee problem by putting it on the customer through tip inflation is going to result in more customers staying home in the long run and that's bad for restaurant owners and servers alike.

Absolutely. I have always hated tip culture with a passion (it's so stupid, just charge what I'm supposed to pay), all this service fee BS makes it even worse. Really just turned me off to going out to eat or drink at all post-COVID, I rarely do anymore except for the occasional take-out. I have sympathy for restaurant workers but I also have no doubt many others feel the same way and are just fed up with dealing with it.

Bossa Bistro in Addams Morgan has international music. Beautiful spot, delicious food.

Madams Organ similarly is great.

There’s a Latin spot farther down U st.

All the great places have sorta shut down due to the massive culture shift in our city and Covid. It super sucks. I’m not sure if Black Cat is still around or U at music hall. There used to be reggae halls. There used to be great dj spots. Le sigh. Here we are.
