Everybody knows the best part about Mormons is their dedication to playing games. It's no joke. Growing up the Mormon family across my street had every Nintendo game imaginable and walls of board games. And they had a bunker of snacks. So you can chill and play games all day and steal snacks from their 5 month supply of food they buy from Costco. And they had a hoop in their driveway.

They just couldn't listen to any decent music, watch anything good, or leave the sight of their parents and couldn't be outside past dinner. I guess that's what the games are for to make sure they don't stray far.

Back in 2011, MPD had roughly 3,900 officers and the city recorded over 7,000 violent crimes and made 44,000 arrests. Last year, though, MPD had about 300 fewer officers — and there were just over 4,100 violent crimes and 16,900 arrests.

Draw your own conclusions but the numbers say your conclusions are highly selective, immaterial and nearly identical to the increased murder rate across the nation, not just DC.

DC has 25% more cops per capita than NYC (whose cops also patrol their transit system).

20% more than Chicago, 30% more than Boston and Detroit, twice as many cops per capita as LA.

And again, this doesn’t include all the other adjacent police agencies in DC that reduce MPDs overall responsibility.

Most of the other comments suggest taking Metro. I'd suggest Uber unless you're focused on saving cash. It's, what, $10 to Metro each way? By contrast, unless there's a surge, it'll be about $50 with Uber (plus tip). So, much more expensive, but it depends what $50 extra is worth to you.

The benefit of Uber is that you get in the car, do whatever, and you're there. Traffic may be slow, but half of the ride is on the express road for Dulles, which won't have traffic. Worst possible case? 90 minutes. Realistic bad case? 50-60 minutes. Best case: 35 minutes.

Metro is not hard, but it's possible to get confused at the connection in Rosslyn. If you care about the money, Metro makes lots of sense. But if you're lazy like me, Uber is easier and will take you right up to the terminal.

On the return, you have five hours. You could accidentally board a freight train to Atlanta and still make your connection.

Protest Tourism. That’s a new one. I’ve been to many through the years, my kids too - but it’s about the issues and exercising your right to gather and your right to free speech. Aren’t you passionate about something? It’s activism not entertainment. And FWIW Jan 6 was not a protest or march.
