Starting a trend at the minimum isn't really how you do trends if it's pretty flat around that minimum.
There's a clear shift of trends between 2008 and 2009 where it dropped 22% in one year. There was one outlier year in 2015. Then in 2018, it started shooting up again.
Between 2009 and 2017, there wasn't a whole lot of variation except for 2015.

Even if he was an actual officer, there is nothing wrong with knowing or asking.

There’s no melting going on in the arctic during winter, regardless of whether the polar vortex spills to lower latitudes. When that happens, it’s entirely possible that Minnesota is colder than the arctic but it’s still plenty cold in the arctic. The melting happens in summer.

I'm not super familiar with metro out that way but there are definitely longer distances between stations once you get out past Ballston.
I think it might have some closer together for the bigger areas like Tysons and Reston, but similar to the East Bay with BART in the SF Bay Area, the further out suburbs will be set up to require people drive and park to each station from that surrounding area for long distance transit use only versus using it locally for super short micro trips in the major city centers (DC and Arlington).

Contrary to what everyone is saying — nah, just kidding, you’ll be fine. Metro will be cheaper, Uber will be easier. Pick your poison.

These responses are rude. It is an understandable question. I got to see my first one recently. It was interesting for a few minutes but became annoying fast. My suggestion is to spend time on the national mall on a weekend. Or check to see if the Iran group is still organizing.

Not given to hysteria DC is better than points north, but very safe is debatable.

This. Crime is worse since the pandemic as it is in most of the NE Corridor ex Boston (though inching up there also now). You have to be alert, practice city smarts 101. 90s level? Don't think it's that bad yet, but those who can compare can chime in.

I’ve tried it once and never again. Use one of the physical books (or their respective apps), or go to VA or MD and take your pick of em all.

You’ll be fine. Uber or metro will get you there in plenty of time.

Metro is a bit dicier and inching back to pre-pan frequency but not quite there yet....
Restos are meh generally (covid impacts), lots of sneaky new fees, so beware.
Downtown is dead-ish...

Office workers haven't really come back. It is somewhat busier, but def not pre-pandemic levels.

I conclude that the police didn't do as much to reduce crime as you'd think.
Also do any cops in DC actually get out of their cars and walk the beat.

My worry is, doesn't the cold air leaving the pole mean more melting? I'm glad we've had some frigid weather as a result but I fear it may be hastening the final end of cooler days
