Do you have global entry? At Dulles you get transported to customs in a mobile lounge, and you may have to wait for the pilots and flight attendants. It can be a slow process when people are slow getting off the plane. I don’t think I would choose it as a US entry point if I didn’t live here.

Just watch this subreddit. They're definitely the "protesting" type of crowd and will always post info.
You couldn't have a better approach to participating in a protest. Don't get invested.
The people telling you the protest has to align with your morals or passions are dorks.

Slavery and systemic racism will always be this country's cardinal sin.

But for a city that has a near-Black-majority with most public officials being such as well, I'm going to go on a limb that it's not the sole, nor even primary driving force of this issue. Furthermore, the people who would love to be able to enjoy their day, walk outside and not get carjacked while trying to support their families are also Black. I'm sure they'd appreciate some safety and security too (while still having strong feelings about the Police as they should).

However I do agree that we need to both strengthen those social safety nets and police,/prosecute better (without violating civil rights) at the same time.

There's got to be a middle ground here because both extreme sides are untenable.

There is a weird mythology surrounding the existence of independently-minded cops. Cops draw from people who are ideologically oriented toward reinforcing whatever the existing system is. This is their role in literally every society that's ever had law enforcement. They will never not have sympathizers with extra-legal factions with that same system-reinforcing goal (proud boys).
