Is your family from DC or living in the area? Like how would they know the realities if theyâre just regurgitating sensational news stories?

Google how safe DC is before googling DC shootings

As a foreginer, DC is one of America's most appealing and safe feeling big cities. There's nothing to fear at all. This place is great. Full of stuff to do and places to hang out. There's nowhere in the States I'd rather be.

I am not a big fan of DC but even I think youâre going to be fine. Lexapro will help

Really curious to hear where are you from that you'd consider DC unsafe?

I disagree! If the bar is âyouâre surely going to get shotâ, OP will likely be blown away by their visit. Theyâll have fun, eat some good food they may not have experienced before, and return home unscathed. They are actually the ideal tourist.

Laughing at someone with severe anxiety and making a blanket statement that they will be fine and DC is safe is really beyond the pale. You are awful.

The idea that DC is significantly more dangerous for random bystanders than anywhere else is really just right wing posturing. Obviously exercise some level of caution if youâre out walking around at night but youâll be fine

I've lived here a long time and I'm also surprised and scared of the crime here. I also think the comments making fun / laughing at this thread are pretty insensitive.
There are parts of the city I won't go to where I used to.
Don't walk and be staring at your phone. Keep money close to you and put some in your shoe. Leave any jewelry at home. The key is to keep your eyes and ears open.

Do you honestly think your union is going to send people to a conference in a dangerous area of a dangerous city? Get real.

Listen, every city and town has crime. These things happen.
The vast majority of us donât experience it and a lot of it is in a few bad areas, Adams Morgan is fine, but itâs not going to be a utopia.
Donât go looking for trouble, stay in well lit areas. Youâll be fine.

I think a lot of what you read and see can be overblown. Just do yourself a favor and don't make yourself out to be a victim. Walk in well-lit areas, be attentive to your surroundings, and make sure you have a good time. It's honestly not that bad.

I used the Center for Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery in Gaithersburg for my dogâs dental surgery, he had to get some high risk teeth out after his regular dental and my vet recommended them. They were very nice, I liked the doc a lot, and everything went very well, but itâs definitely a smaller practice. Certainly closer than Columbia.

don't wander down dark alleys alone at night and you'll be fine. the usual: keep your wits about you, maintain situational awareness, don't plug your earbuds in and crank up the tunes. Stay with other groups of people if you can. Doesn't sound like you'll have a car so no one should carjack you. (And if you were planning on having a car, don't. Parking up there is a bear.)
