Call a pool service and get a quote for maintenance. I’ve been told it can cost $10-20k/year. I have no idea how manageable that is to do yourself or why it’s that much. But that sounds like a lot of money on top of higher home insurance and the anxiety you may have if you have kids around the pool. Personally that wouldn’t be worth it to me.

I run my own boat business taking people out on the water.
I offer 2 types - cruises on the chesapeake bay, more of a hands on learning experience on a 30 foot sailboat thats been with me all over the US east coast! I enjoy doing this the most because I love sailing. I also offer a more mainstream product - a guided 2 hour cruise on a small open power skiff. Its geared towards locals to help them discover our wonderful river. Both have a lot of storytelling based interactions. I am adding a unguided, 'hang out on the boat' cruise this year (which is my website isn't working for booking right now). All trips are private bookings. Sorry I sound like an ad, but I am passionate about boating, sailing, cruising and my business in general and I can't help talking about it :)

They are facial recognition towers. They scan your faces and send alerts to officers of there is a wanted person in the area. Pretty useful

Lol, you're welcome - I've done the solo thing too, but I prefer not being constantly broke, so roommates help!

I live alone in a studio (although it feels like a one bedroom) and pay 1525 a month on a 55kish salary and financially it can be stressful but I find it to be worth it tbh. (although I do fantasize about the money I'd save with roommates)

Share a 1 bedroom apartment with a long term partner. Max was myself plus 7 others sharing a house when I was in college.

Lived in Lanham with three friends from high school right after I graduated. Then lived in a two-bedroom place for four years with one roommate. When I bought my place, I usually had two roommates and a basement tenant until I got my dog. Then I only had one roommate and a basement tenant. I think I stopped about a year before I met my husband.

Thank you for also having the experience I've had. Everyone on this thread saying they live alone was weirding me out.

Reply to comment by dirtybloodyleaves in Got a speeding ticket at Kenilworth Ave - how do I contest it? by dirtybloodyleaves
I asked to go in person but couldn't get an appointment. I had to contest it by mail.
On another note, that tactic of maps and math did successfully get me out of a ticket in PA. I've only gotten 2 speeding tickets in the last 20 years, both photo tickets - and the one I got out of, but not with DC.

I live with my partner now but I lived in a five-person group house in Cleveland Park for six years. Rent was between 870 and 980 across that time (bigger/ better rooms were generally based on how long you’d been in the house and price was based on size)

3 roommates - I think that's the maximum before it goes from "living with a few peers" to "big group house" tbh

I feel this. Used to have NPR set as my morning alarm until I realized I hate listening to strangers talk about topics that I don't care hearing an opinion about.

This is day four and tonight I made a pizza, bought a bottle of rose, and am watching Netflix while I relax.
Best Monday night ever.

Depends entirely on the work. Stay away from litigation and aim for securities or corporate.

When I moved after having a roommate, I took the first couple of days to just sit and soak in the pure peacefulness (ie not having to hear constant NPR/nauseatingly loud belching anywhere in the unit)

If you want tours of the White House, you need to set them up now.
There are a ton of options here for history and cool places to eat, so you'll need to be more specific.
