I thought so— the cherry blossom watchers that the parent comment is referring to are only watching the cherries around the tidal basin that are traditionally a part of the “festival”— I don’t think they track all the cherry trees in the city, and some of these will be early/late bloomers.

You just missed Katsucon, I recommend a cat café, or something similar to suit her interest like cats and whiskers. The national zoo. Or botanical gardens. Annapolis isn’t too far you can tour the house and the senate chambers. At the Maryland state house. Which is also where Washington gave his farewell address speech. There are several things to do there, including a boat tour. And it’s relatively close to DC. Chicken Ruth is an Annapolis restaurant featured on man versus food. It has a lot of local history. For unique flavor and a delicious twist on ice cream Annapolis ice cream company is directly across the street and down the hill from the restaurant.

If we could only find out as much about 'them' as they want to know about 'us'.

Are we sure these are plum blossoms?

If you look closely the petals look like they have the characteristic “notch” at their tips rather than being rounded like a plum blossom.

The pic is kind of blurry but the few buds I could make out also look pointed (cherry) and not round (plum).

Any botanists out there?
