I imagine it varies but I’ve never had a major credit card company require me to file a police report and have always had them immediately reimburse me the amount. If they care enough to track down the issue (a high enough threshold), they usually investigate it themselves and get the money from the vendor or elsewhere.

Witnessed a new DC-specific traffic encounter over the weekend. A cop car put on its lights and sirens to pull over a Volkswagen, and instead of pulling over, the car sped into the other lane and left! The cop car then turned off its lights and turned away. That would never happen where I am originally from. Just wild.

Just get off this subreddit, things really aren’t as bad as people make the seem. Practice basic street smarts (e.g., be mindful of your surroundings) and everything is fine.

Personality tests certainly aren’t common, but I had to do one once that was administered over the phone by Gallup. Was annoying because it was a bunch of “agree, neutral, disagree” questions that could have been done online, but nope, I had to do it over the phone on a Saturday morning at 8:30 and it took over an hour. I feel your pain though. I don’t even know why they did it. It was a white collar office job, not like I was trying to become a spy for the CIA.

Thankfully, I found an adorable country girl with a heart of gold in the middle of all this mess in my late 40s.

When I first moved here I dated this one woman who was unemployed and living off of a trust from her parents. She had a PhD in something or other (that her parents paid for), and asked me "Will it be OK if I am making more money than you when I get a job?". I thought to myself, "Bitch, you're unemployed, living off of your parents money and are in your late 40s. Feel free to try to impress me."

I was a GS-13 at the time and 20 years into my career with a pension to look forward to. I'm also the type of guy that would happily be into a relationship with someone that made more money than me, but the way she asked that question made me feel like she was looking down on me.

Starting to feel frustrated with job recruiters and tidal wave of rejections. One even asked to take a personality and aptitude test, which I never heard a firm did. At least I’m keeping my anxiety in check or would be in a total meltdown.
