This is correct. They are treated like children with curfews, bed, and room checks. Many places (shelters) are first come, first served, so while you may have somewhere to sleep tonight, you may not be able to sleep there tomorrow. The housing also mixes many different people together who may steal your belongings or assault you overnight. The encampments create small communities of trusted and "like" people. Moving them also removes that trust. And yes, drug rehab programs, job seeking, clothing, food, are all programs already offered by the city to address the issue.

If you got an unlimited budget stay near the walking mall. Get one of the nice 4-5 star Hotels. Close to all the monuments and museums. Safe and fun part of town. Can be pricey for everything from a room to an evening Drink.

I noticed dc has a hotel chain I stayed at in nyc called Moxy. It had a cute trendy vibe, something a teenage girl would probably love. I’m from dc and really enjoyed my time at the one in nyc.

I'm not sure if it is a requirement, but my understanding was that most if not all of the violence interrupters are convicted felons who have served time for violent felonies -- a mark of distinction that purportedly gives them the "street cred" to interact with people who are thinking about committing criminal violence.

If the violence interrupter involved in this shooting was a convicted felon, he/she was disqualified from owning/possessing firearms. Surely he/she was not eligible to obtain a DC concealed carry permit.

You’re referring to the pre-pandemic era. “Old DC” is somewhere between 1960’s white flight and early 2000’s gentrification.
