Hunting is everywhere unless the property is posted. You can look up the Vermont Fish and Wildlife regulations. There are different seasons you should be aware of. Rifle season is the main one. But its shorter than the rifle season in FL. In rural areas (most of VT) you might hear folks target practicing or sighting in guns in preparation for hunting. It's not a big deal.

The drugs/crime level in VT are super low compared to FL, even in the worst spots. It's all relative.
Figure out if you can be ok with being away from city things like grocery stores, takeout, movies, etc. I'm 45 min from the nearest stoplight and get my groceries once a month. I live in a pretty rural area (obviously). If you need those city trappings, you'll have to live in a larger town. Best of luck with the housing situation.
Btw, I grew up in VT but moved to FL in my early 20s. I escaped 16 years later and moved back home. Best decision ever.

Probably not helpful, but I know there was a case like this in NH a few years ago and the the woman did get some kind of compensation for repairs accrued after having to commute over a badly damaged road for an entire summer. In her case, the only other detail I remember is that it was the only road to her house, so her option was to try carefully driving it in her sedan, or lose her job.

Remnants of an era of fear and over control of personal responsibility (e.g. drugs and sex education). Abstinence rarely works for the masses. There isn't really much of a push to have it legalized from what I've seen.

The fear that if we legalize gambling, then anyone could fall into the trap. "I've seen what Vegas has done to people." Yes, if you only have one area that is widely open for gaming, you will attract gamblers that become addicted. In my opinion, that is not enough of a reason to entirely restrict the general public.

Legalization allows for regulations, regulations designed to protect the well being of the public. Currently, if you want to gamble on sports, you have to go through some sort of illegal channel, which is a riskier endeavor with less safety nets.

It will pass eventually, there will be resistance.

i was bumming around new england in the 90s and found myself in need of a place to go. i had met members at some phish concerts where they were known for recruiting pretty heavily among the lost or disillusioned heads. "don't get on the bus" was good advice. they would offer people food and try to get them to leave with them. they handed out neat little magazines about the 3 eternal destinies of man and asking questions like why aren't i satisfied by drugs and rock music? they were kind of fascinating to me, and it was my only exposure at that age to any kind of communal living situation. at one point i called them up on the phone and spoke at length about how they lived and what they believed, and was warmly invited to come check it out for myself. so it was both opportunistic and anthropological, but i was much more of a seeker than a believer, and when the novelty wore off, i was ready for something different.

Yes it was easy to find. There are 2 separate sets near each other and one was covered with snow but the other one was on more upright rock so it was clear :) Very easy to find, right next to the bridge.
