Nothing ever instills a deep sense of thalassophobic abyssal dread like orbiting a star at closer ranges in games like Elite Dangerous, No mans sky or Kerbal...

I live above a harbour and every year a nest appears on my roof. That’s no sleep for us for 3 months as they shout and scream constantly. Then the young drop down into my garden and are fed by vomit on the patio. My cat has to spend the summer inside as the adults will do him over at the slightest provocation.

Reply to TIL that there are official guidelines for muslims to perform their rituals from space since 2007, when the first malaysian astronaut join the space station. by TonahVilla
Since it could be interpreted as travel, and travel is one of the exemptions for fasting, I doubt it was very hard for them to come up with the solution that he could make up his fast later. Also water isn’t necessary for ablutions (tayyammum), and neither is physical movement for prayer. All of these exclusions and exceptions were established when the religion was founded. It’s great that they made specific guidelines for space travel, but ultimately Islam is about intention, not inconvenience, so all of their solutions are based on established doctrine.

Spent my life around them.Voracious and unstoppable. They are beautiful and incredibly strong. They really are the fittest to be the dominant species of seabirds. But then , EVERYONE gets shat directly upon by them at some time. For me,eating lunch st the outdoor tables in 4th grade.I threw up, and never heard the end of it.

It was referred to as pizza pie when I was younger. Still the most perfect food ever invented.

Most carnivores/omnivores will eat just about anything that can fit in their mouth if desperate enough, including their own species, or even their own young.

That was a great movie.
Serious, not Hollywoody, but great.
A good companion film is Winter's Bone.

Face down toward Mecca. Now a little to the left. Now way to the left. Now it's actually going right again.

I saw a great video of a guy outrunning police on a snowmobile. Just ripping across grass and dirt until he gets to a lake. He guns it and hydroplanes the snowmobile across the entire lake with the cops stuck on the shore.

Reply to comment by gimmeafuckinname in TIL Australian band, Men At Work were sued over their song "Down Under" for similarities to an Australian nursery rhyme "Kookaburra". by El-Hairy
Correct. The “plagiarised” portion is the short flute riff after the chorus, which mimics the exact melody of the nursery rhyme’s first line: “Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree”

Look at the Spice Girls for things on the pop-y side (overly tight-fitting clubbing clothes with belly ribbed sweatshirts) and the show Friends for clothes on the preppy side (everything is too big on guys which includes polo shirts and straight-leg blue jeans). Button-up shirts that are unbuttoned with crazy patterns and colors and a tee underneath.

Just go get a room. What's with this song and dance courtship ritual? Is bowling really necessary. We know what we want in the end.

Brother, D'Angelo is always in your heart. D'Angelo is not an outward experience, D'Angelo is experience. You can not grasp D'Angelo, D'Angelo is intangible, incomprehensible by the mind alone. You can only be D'Angelo.... We are all.... D'Angelo.
