Can the passengers hear it when the flight crew has sex up there? C'mon, you can tell us.

Reply to TIL about Alice in wonderland syndrome. A neurological condition in which one’s perception of their body image, time, or space is distorted. AIWS may also cause hallucinations, sensory distortion, and an altered sense of velocity. by Deechon
When I was a child we lived in an old farm house. My sisters and I would get this. Looking back on it, I’ve always speculated it was from lead poisoning. But I have no idea.
One of the sensations I remember was lying in bed looking at the clothes in the closet and they would become near and far, or thick and thin, or all at the same time. Or fuzzy and smooth. It was so disorienting.
The kids all got it but our parents must have thought we were cray when we tried to describe it. We would sound all whiney and sometimes be crying because it felt a little scary.

Fun fact: When it’s purposely engineered to fit an existing word, it’s called a bacronym.

Heinrich Hertz and James Clerk Maxwell worked out the foundational theory before either of them demonstrated their inventions.

Reply to TIL about the only double barrel cannon in the world. When it was its first tested during the American Civil War, the chain snapped immediately and one ball tore into a nearby cabin, knocking down its chimney; the other spun off erratically and struck a nearby cow, killing it instantly. by ExpertPreference8481
Yeah that's what happens when you expect black powder to burn evenly in two different barrels.

The Texans regrouped under Sam Houston, and surprised the Mexican forces and overwhelming defeated the Mexicans. The Texans had 11 soldiers killed and the Mexicans lost 650. by triviafrenzy
Wasn't the retreat towards Louisiana an attempt to bait Santa Ana to follow the Texian army into the United States where Sam Houston and Andrew Jackson had arranged the U.S. military to be waiting?

I love that the only reason I know what this is is from that one Doctor Who episode with MI6

Extraordinary story of survival, though at a huge cost to her health through out the remainder of her life.

I worked for a place that had the entire 26 volumes of the OED. There was nothing like sitting down at lunch, opening a volume at random, and just getting lost.

It must get unbearably warm up there, in recent years airlines have been increasing cabin temperatures to uncomfortable levels.

Even the creation story of Tolkienverse is testament to that. Arda was sung into existence. Music was first, then song, and the song was given shape as the physical universe.
