The lice that attack humans, only attack humans, but there are other species that infect other animals. With bed bugs that's not as much of a thing. (Iirc) I'm not a lice expert though entomology wouldn't fit into my class schedule :(

They don't need old lice, they look at existing lice and build out probable family trees, based on things like mutation rates in various parts of louse DNA.

I live generally near the island, about 30 mins away, I wouldn’t exactly call it regional. When I overhear them talk half the time I’m like what the fuck are you even saying??
The only other place I’ve experienced that is deep Appalachia.

Have you been to west Texas lately? It's all wind turbines as far as the eye can see. In fact if I remember correctly Texas is either the fastest growing or the top renewable electric generator in the USA.
