So I guess based off this week’s guest and band this is supposed to be targeted towards a younger female audience but I can’t imagine being in highschool and thinking this dated ass garbage is cool. Oh well, at least the machines seem to enjoy it.

Talk shows and late night shows were once one of the few chances to hear from celebrities and assume they're "candid", also used to debut groundbreaking music. Now, they're fixtures for either the older or those who are super into celebrity culture.
Steven will never get even close. He does well enough that they want to keep him and let him do some big-budget things but Letterman dominated in an era where his kind of show was on the rise.
Colbert is a bigger recognizable star because of his comedy central show and politics than his talk show. Which is more about maintaining a particular audience.

His ratings aren't appreciably different from Letterman towards the end. However, Colbert hasn't ever come remotely close to the number of viewers Letterman had during his heyday.
In general, late night talk shows have been on a long, slow decline and aren't all that relevant as part of the national conversation any more.

There are broadly three types of sitcom. Family, friends and workplace. Every few years one those types gets into fashion usually pushed by a big hit.

That's it though. That's all anyone has said about it. I really don't want to come across like I'm defending Whedon but he was mean and nasty to a lot of people on his set and that might be all that quote means. Interpreting it as inappropriate sex stuff is entirely extrapolation. Just because you can think of a worst case scenario doesn't make it so. Again! This is not "Whedon was a good guy." This is "that's a really big accusation to pull out of one out of context quote."
Edit - to be completely clear, I was aware he was not allowed alone with Trachtenberg. I just find it troubling that people automatically assume the reason why was sexual abuse, to the point where OP was stating it as fact. It's jumping to conclusions. While there is much documentation on how emotionally abusive he was to the "out group" on his sets, which included Trachtenberg, nobody has ever actually accused him of assault, so people are legitimately just looking at that one quote and assuming the worst. There's so many reasons to dislike the guy, we don't need to start making them up.

In regards to Family Ties, MB was pregnant with twins IRL. Hiding that would be a bitch. So I get adding Andrew in that instance.
OTOH, adding kids to put nre life into a show just because is a bad sign.

Yeah, I think they were directly inspired from that. At least I kinda remember that from the BTS of B99 video on youtube.
