I do know the age of Matlock's audience as I am 45 years old and remember it being on air.

Literally the only thing my original comment said was that the show was on the air until 1995. > > then moved the goalposts

I have not moved any goalposts. I do not think a large number of original Matlock fans are alive, but I do believe that it is a larger number than the person I originally replied to was suggesting. That's it.

It's amusing that you claim to not be picking a fight and then go on that little rant afterwards. You seem to be very worked up over this and I have no interest in arguing with you. I will not be replying to anymore combative comments on your part.

Andor isnt very star wars. Its more like WWII style resistance and very slow burn, set in the star wars universe. Its good but it could drag fairly hard if you aren't that invested.

Mandalorian really relies on you being a star wars fan or at least someone who cares as a lot of it is callbacks, but otherwise is a episodic western

No one’s picking a fight over the age of Matlock’s audience. It’s a fact that they were very old in 1995 and between now and then, the majority of people watching the show have passed on to the next life.

What we have is someone who didn’t know the age of Matlock’s audience (you) who decided to jump in and try to “well actually” another person, then moved the goalposts when they were shown to be talking out of their ass.

It's difficult to recommend people to just watch 5 seasons out of a 15 season show on good faith. Yet new people will get a bit afraid seeing a 15 season show to pick up, specially one with so many episodes.

Loved those first 5 seasons and the whole 15 were good overall but gee, makes it difficult to recommend the show.

Fantasy is an absurdly expensive genre to produce, especially with audience expectations these days that TV shows should look just as good as movies.

Not much chance of studios dumping hundreds of millions into projects that don't have built-in audiences or name recognition.

Most likely Andor, which I think is definitely a better show, but it kind of depends on what you're looking for. If you want fun, straightforward action/adventure, you might prefer The Mandalorian. If you was a slower-paced but ultimately more complex and rewarding show, go with Andor.

However I would say that while Season 1 of The Mandalorian wouldn't really be hurt by not being a Star Wars fan, Season 2 (and presumably the forthcoming Season 3), are much more tied into pre-existing Star Wars characters and lore. I still wouldn't say you have to be a super familiar with Star Wars to enjoy the show, but it definitely caters to fans in a way that Andor has almost zero interest in doing.

Top 15 Original Streaming list, and it was the at the very bottom at 15, behind The Boys at number 11. Look at the money Amazon spent on production and promotion, plus the number of built in audience because of the IP they were adapting, and then tell me again how failing out of Top Streaming completely and crawling into Top Original Streaming 4 spots behind another Amazon title with a fraction of the budget and promotion is somehow ANYTHING for them to brag about.
Yeah "real data" is important, but only when pair with context.

Andor can be watched alone. In fact, I'd almost say it should be watched before anything else as it describes the universe and sets up the conflicts in the first released film.

The Mandalorian is action/adventure but takes place after Return of the Jedi and assumes you know the world. There are tons of Easter eggs for fans, and even famous characters.

Andor is much more of a spy thriller and I can see people liking it just for what it is as it is different from most other SW stuff.

But The Mandalorian is more Star Wars. If you don't like Star Wars you probably won't like it.
