I call that the homoerotic version of The Craft. So much baby oil...

Part of this I think was due to the schedule that last season which ABC majorly dropped the ball on. You'd have 2 episodes, then 4 repeats, then a random new episode, then a break of 3 weeks. I think a lot of people missed the plot like this. Streaming wasn't a thing at the time (save for pirate streaming) so a lot of people couldn't catch up on what they missed.

Well they were thinking. “She has to meet hot Sauron at some point”. So instead of doing something that makes more sense, they just went “uhh, how about in the middle in this gigantic oceans?” And it wasn’t like Sauron did it on purpose either, he was literally fighting the majority of the show to not be around Galadriel

I loved the series throughout the entire run, but the power creep was pretty hilarious.
They kill literal death, and eventually they kill the actual omniscient omnipresent God, despite having no actual powers.
Puts DBZ to shame.

Back in '96, during our Senior trip to D.C., I missed a visit to the White House with the rest of my class because me and my other X-Files fan buddies decided to visit the J. Edgar Hoover building instead. Waited in line for 3 hours until it was too late and we had to rejoin the rest of the class lol
Of course, AFAIK, you can't visit either building nowadays

Man, that lighting. It was SUCH a good looking show. It felt expensive, in a way that's so rare now.

Because there’s nothing really fun to talk about with it.
The show had one mystery it wanted you to try to guess at the whole season, but it wasn’t that compelling of a mystery to begin with. “Who is Sauron?” They hinged their whole first season on something no one went into the season really caring about. And instead of telling good stories throughout the season, they purposefully teased this reveal our and it just fell flat overall.
Plus there’s nothing really fun to speculate about next season. They took their sweet time with a lot of stuff that was boring but rushed the most exciting part- Sauron tricking the elves into making the rings.

Yeah doubtful. But I hope you’re right. Would love more epic shows. Give this one 1% chance

LMAO.
It is an Amazon show whose show runner also made Reacher. It will be more of the forgettable trash that Amazon spews out.

I was kind of obsessed at the time, and really worried they would cancell it before the planned ending on season 5.
Although, looking back, I think the introduction of angels took a lot of the original charm, it was really good TV

And then they brought Bobby back! Not the same Bobby but still! I’m guessing they got a lot of backlash killing Bobby off (and the way they did it) and found a way to bring him back and thought everything would be square lol

That is the key point. A Lord of the Rings show is going to have a huge potential audience just on name alone. Just cracking the top 15 given th eamount of money they paid for the rights is not a success.

I love the first two seasons especially. Very moody lighting. Cell phones were a thing but not quite mainstream. The UFO conspiracies are top-notch.

Until eventually they literally killed Death, Lucifer, and even God. It got pretty silly (I still enjoyed the later seasons, but I also know they were ridiculous and not as good as the beginning)

Watching this right now really really hard for me to get past episode 3 but gave it another try and now I’m liking it. It’s not perfect or anything but it’s entertaining

No, just generally excited over what looks like an ambitious undertaking.
