And he had a big part in the Kingsman sequel. Not on the same scale as the others, but it was the 2nd thing I saw him in and loved it

Don’t know about that, as Conan started around the same time as TLS. It would be awfully strange to draw inspiration from a factionalized talk show from a sitcom that was on the at the same time as your own real talk show. And Gary was parodying cliches from actual talk shows, and the backstage environment. The fictional TLS didn’t really do much that set itself apart from traditional talk shows, and Conan’s show, while a bit edgy and crass compared to other contemporary shows, was still very much a traditional talk show format, so naturally there would be some similarities.

Trying to swim across the ocean is exactly the kind of crazy shit a First Age elf would do, this complaint has always confused me. Its not like she even made it.

Take the weekly Nielsen listings for streaming and cable and add HBO and HBOMax together, and the numbers are smaller than RoP streaming alone.

Seasons 1-5 are the Winchester Gospel. Seasons 6-15 are the apocrypha.

Not a lot of new television comedies being developed at the moment, and it would probably be hard to land a part as an old guy at this point, even without his controversies, so it’s hard to say.

it would be nice if the 'conversations' in the show weren't two characters saying something that sounds profound but has no meaning, then just walking away when they're done.
Noone talks to the other person. They talk at them like its a contest to out purple prose eachother

If you ignore the lore, as the showrunners did, it's not brutal. It's not terrible. It's .. ok. The main character is unpleasant as she repeatedly goes places and threatens them in order to speak to the manager. I call her Karendriel. Hopefully they tone that down in S2 and stop her from acting like a crazy person (in one episode she threatens to murder all of Adar's children in front of him to make him watch and then in the next episode when a guy's like 'hey i hate those orcs' she says 'don't hold hate in your heart' like it's supposed to be profound but really was just first draft writing that noone fixed)

Yeah, to me it's just kind of your standard expensive show with high production value and good actors propping up a lacking script. Not that good, not that bad, frustrating at times, with the occasional cool moment or cheesy trope. I wouldn't exactly recommend it and I don't see myself making it to season 5 if it doesn't get a little more interesting, but people act like it's My Mother The Car

that made me laugh pretty good. the guy asks a question and just walks away as if he saw the title and got his answer.
Felt like a video game cutscene moment

I think the point still stands that it made zero dents culturally. That’s a kind of rare thing to accomplish for something so high budget with a well-known IP

The Simpsons. Even though it fell off its peak long ago it is a culture defining show and still one of the most quotable off all time.
30 Rock. So consistently funny with a great cast and had the advantage of being a comedy about making comedy.
Seinfeld. All the same reasons as 30 Rock. Helped pave the way for shows like that.
Married with Children. I have so much nostalgia for this show. Was boundary pushing for its time. A personal favourite of mine.

Interesting, I found the dialogue quite in line with the movies! Heartfelt and powerful, if not a bit cheesy.

I love the show, but like with a lot of shows that were ahead of their time, it’s pretty inconsistent imo. There are some really strange episodes and moments that don’t quite work for me. At times, it seems like it almost wants o go for a more realistic approach, but it ends up still feeling like a multi-cam sitcom half the time, in a weird way. It exists sort of between the worlds of what TV comedies have become over the last couple decades (The Office, Curb, Sunny, Arrested Development) and traditional sitcoms. That leaves it feeling a bit dated but still quite good (imo of course), with moments of genius here and there.

if not hbo theres also fx and Hulu, Apple TV.So I dont think except for score, costuming, effects it would compete.
