Well the president of NBC at the time did. She championed the deal at NBC, gave them the budget they needed and was going to put them in the coveted Thursday night ER spot.
Then she was unceremoniously fired, the network dropped all marketing for the show, and moved it to Sunday nights, which was basically the worst night for prime time network TV viewings (which is hilarious considering now that’s HBO’s big night for their prestigious shows).

Showtime will just keep milking and milking their shows until there’s literally nothing left but dust

I didn't know that. What a bunch of muppets. Knowing showtime they are gonna keep this running for 5 more seasons till they eventually cancel it when the writing gets even more god awful

Doctor Who. Constantly retconning and breaking continuity but it has its moments.

Buffy!
But I now consider it tied with Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul.

Have to disagree about the holding up. You lose the engagement after a couple of rewatches and then you start to realize how much you can not STAND the kids and Carmella lol.

"Bringing you up to speed is like trying to explain Norway to a dog." Lamb is such a dick but enjoyable to watch

Clancy Brown even said in an interview that to cut corners they fired the writers who made season 1 what it was.

This doesn't bode well for the Indian remake starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan I guess. Though the Russos are just producing it, the show runners are Raj & DK who are superb

If they get a good writers room for season 2 this has the potential of being the Aussie Fargo

Show ended for me after season 2. The writers just kinda lost it after that.

How the hell did this show get 7 seasons.
In my opinion the max a show could go on for without running stale is 6 seasons depending on how good and engaging the story is.

So many shows start off amazing but go on far too long and/or can't stick the landing at the end.
As far as complete shows from start to finish that are nearly perfect, I'd have to say Breaking Bad or Six Feet Under.
For individual seasons? Dexter seasons 1-2, GOT seasons 1-4 and Battlestar Galactica seasons 1-2 are about the best television I've ever watched.

My issue with The Handmaids Tale is that every season, the first 7 or 8 episodes, nothing happens except long drawn out closeups of Elizabeth Moss.... and then the final two episodes are OH MY GOD THAT WAS AWESOME I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON LET'S GOOOO!!!!
.... and I fall for it every time.

While her acting is atrocious in both her Bollywood and Hollywood outings, she has a huge fan base in India and they will watch.
