Hey, I am re-watching this right now for the 3rd time. Its a blast. First 2 seasons are great. I'm in season 3, which has some pretty good moments, but this is where the show starts losing me. I might push through season 4 one last time.

Because he's not omnipotent. Most of what he does is pitting the employees against one another and corrupting them. I don't know, you're arguing all this is dumb but you didn't even watch it or bother to understand lol

I absolutely love the old TV Show as your dad did.
For me, there is absolutely a "zero" connection between the two of them. And I hate the format/style of the HBO version. Hard pass.

I mean, you already said it, but LOST.
Scene: Daytime, jungle. Character A comes staggering out of the jungle after a freaky-deaky island experience involving visions, smoke monsters, dead people, or the Others. Since the survivors have to work together to survive, it would probably be prudent for them to report this kind of stuff to the group.
Character B: What happened?/What's wrong?/What did you find?
Character A: Nothing.
Character A walks away. Character B shrugs and asks no follow-up questions.

Your the Worst used No Children by the Mountain Goats and I can’t think of a more fitting song to wrap up such a great finale.

To be fair, entirely pointless and non-sensible isn't terribly out of character for British game shows. That's what makes them charming.

Your spoiler shows up in the notifications preview I got fyi
But yeah that’s a kinda dumb cop out then because he can just do anything anyways as an overpowered villain than what’s the point of any plot at all?
And if he can just make the founder do whatever he wants, it’s still weird to make him sign a consulting contract and not also make him sign a stockholder resolution giving him actual authority.

Well it's a bit of a cheat to give you a chuckle. As a German it's what I would say if I had to use a single word. Keep in mind that we don't put spaces between compound words, so it's easy to have "one word" for everything. Geräuschkulisse is a particular environment created by sound. Sendung is TV program.
In practice, I would refer to this as "ein Programm im Hintergrund anhaben" but that's more than a word.

I mean, it's not 'jedi mind tricks', >!he is literally the Devil!< and there is a ton of evidence that shows this. They have flashbacks to his meeting with Sang that specifically elaborate on what he had over him and why Sang goes along with it.

Umm, the polar bear explanation was strongly alluded to in early season 2, and all but confirmed (indirectly) during season 3, and spelled out explicitly in season 5. Many of the mysteries/questions were handled this way, so odds are you just missed them.

The Wire. The way it marries seamless sprawling narrative with compelling characters and political/economic commentary that’s just as relevant today as ever is such an incredible achievement.
The Sopranos is also essentially perfect, but I’m not quite as naturally interested in the micro themes it revolves around as I am the bigger picture stuff The Wire deals with.
I could also see The Wire not being as impactful to non-Americans who may not be as keyed into the ways it relates to our politics and socio-economics.
