There’s an obscure musical called “Clowns” and to call it bad would be heaping praise on it. A direct quote from an actor I’ve known: “I’ve had cancer, and I’ve done Clowns. Clowns was worse, because they have drugs that help with the cancer but nothing could make Clowns bearable.”

Animal Control is so bad it feels like it should be a weird B-plot background show in a much better quality show. The characters all fell like they came straight from a book on writing comedy. The dialogue feels like it's filmed one line at a time instead of characters actually talking to each other. The entire premise is the same as every other quick to fail comedy.

Arguably, the Hollywood difference is that it's an industry with relatively limited spots for who gets to star in a (non-independent) movie or TV show, and all of them are built on so many levels of gatekeeping.

There's thousands and thousands of hospitals and blue collar warehouses and McDonald's locations. Each movie studio only makes a dozen-ish movies a year. Each network only makes so many scripted series a year.
