I'm talking about the film looking worse visually. And him getting bad performances out of good actors. And him using the trope he used from Mama for the attacks in chapter 1 one of "penny wise runs at characters quick then nothing happens". And him losing track of the tone of the film to the point it was a comedy. And going with an ending of bullying the clown into a baby. And then spending 1 hour on useless totems that felt unrelated to them and pointless in the plot. And him relegating the only black character to doing almost nothing in each film. And the letter for the suicide that is like "don't worry guys it was cool my husband completes suicide". And lastly that chapter 2 is one of the worst major horror films in a while

I know the material was hard, but they also spliced in kid stuff anyway in chapter 2 and it didn't help it.

They wrote their own songs not covering popular songs of the time. The songs had meaning to the plot and while only three of them could sign well, that’s didn’t really matter. It’s reveal of Buddy went to heaven and not he’ll when she died moved the plot along. Musical episodes tend to have no meaning to the story but this one was important to it. I still listen to the songs on Spotify every few months.

What you are missing that others are pointing out is that WB was in such bad shape that it didn't matter if Discovery was involved.

  1. If it stays with AT&T it's such a big loss that they start similar cutdowns.
  2. If they find a non Discovery buyer, AT&T are folding debt into the sale and the buyer would assume that and still have to make cut downs.

There was no third option where WB doesn't have significant debt and doesn't need a massive overhaul. As others have said, companies that could have taken on the debt, didn't want it. It was just mismanaged for years. When everybody loved HBO Max, they were basically burning money as fast as they could and everyone knew it.

It was an easy decision to make! The impact would have been totally lost if I had been spoiled, so I wanted to help anyone else who hasn't watched it yet. :) I'll admit I did feel a little silly marking it as a spoiler because of its age, but the logic of doing so holds true.

That's definitely what they meant, that it's easier to create an original plot involving two (or more) central characters when each character's background, personality, and physical appearance have already been created.

In Arcane, the writers had free reign in writing story lines as long as they stuck to the basics of the lore (Vi and Jinx being sisters; Vi acquiring her gauntlets; Jinx going "crazy"; both being at-odds with each other), including the lore of other characters added into the show (Jayce developing hextech and becoming a leader; Viktor eventually ending up as he does in the game; Caitlyn becoming Sheriff of Piltover; Ekko developing his 'powers'; etc.).

In The Last of Us, the video game is the story line. It tells the entire thing from start to finish. The story of Joel and Ellie in the first season must start with Joel meeting Ellie (Point A) and end with the decision Joel makes at the end (Point B). There is no room to maneuver there for the writers, other than how the story gets from Point A to Point B (and they've cleverly added in some flashback material to flesh out certain characters and some key questions surrounding the infection).

While Arcane is certainly exceptional in its creativity, its aesthetic, its marriage of action and dramatic tension, and its engaging cast of characters, it certainly had an easier time offering something new for viewers compared to The Last of Us.

With that said, I think both are exceptional.

IT can take any form (and often does in the book) so you don't really need Bill to come back. you could have many actors and CGI play the role really. maybe Bill will come back for a one episode cameo when IT is in the form of Pennywise.

i'd hope somehow Tim Curry could be involved though. he's the OG and best Pennywise

Yep. Rogue One and Andor are my favorite stories since the original trilogy. The writing and dialogue are so good. No cheesy one liners or fart jokes, it's a sharp espionage thriller.

Yup the whole thing about Pennywise is that he's essentially an eldritch horror from beyond who is designed to destroy worlds that got lazy as shit and decided to shirk his duties by making a corporeal form and just setting up shop in a small town and feasting on it's children every few decades.

As bad as Derry was, the rest of the universe kinda got good deal with IT deciding to confine itself to Derry until the Losers wiped IT out.
