Reply to ‘1923’ Star Aminah Nieves On Show’s Brutality Toward Indigenous People: “I Felt Like Sometimes, I Wasn’t Even In Control Of My Body” by zsreport
I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for an actor to portray or take part in a retelling of brutality that was inflicted on one’s ancestors in this way. I think it’s important to portray historically accurate depictions of these matters, and I applaud her for her strength in choosing to do it as a way of exposing people who may not be aware, to the realities of the American frontier.

What conversation? Whining about a show you don't have to watch getting a second season is not a conversation.

That’s what hits the hardest, not being able to relive childhood experiences as an adult / parent because they’re just not there any more. We’re not the first generation it’s happened to and it’s a part of growing up, but damn it stings.
Of course if you told 9 year old me who’s just missed that weeks only airing of Batman TAS that in the future every episode of every show will be available on demand I’d think you’d be living in a utopia. The reality is that convenience erodes the charm and it all blurs together. But I don’t know where I’d be if I couldn’t bring up the specific episode of Bluey that my girls want to watch.

Bravo Nolan, people are "conservative" because they want to hear important plot exposition instead of sailboat noises and droning booms. Truly an underappreciated visionary.

Good to know. I feel like with better timing it could’ve found an audience on Showtime - like if it had followed up Yellowjackets and they could market the hell of it to that audience. C’est la vie

it has nothing to do with the engineers headphones, and everything to do with that ultra flat screen tv´s just don't have good speakers.
You need a 5.1 system or at least a soundbar today.

This dude really is going to recommend a ton of popular shows and be like "bet y'all haven't heard of these hidden gems"
Calcutec_1 t1_j9c8vda wrote
yeah I've been noticing it in cheaper productions, mainly Netflix. I tried to watch that show about that Dog who inherited millions but it was unwatchable because the music was blasted way to loud in comparison to the dialogue.
But it's so weird because junior sound engineers are a dime a dozen, and mixing basic 5.1 is not that hard.

>Wow what a condescending, shitty comment that adds nothing to the conversation.
Please elaborate on how you would add to the conversation? What conversation is there to be had when responding to "I dislike this show personally, so I hope it gets cancelled"? What is there to discuss?
>You can tell how defensive fans get when they resort to this
Yes, when you have someone saying "I hate this show so much, I hope it ends," the person saying "you know, why don't you go get invested in something you actually like" is definitely the defensive one. And it especially isn't the person who feels like hating things is such a valid hobby, that they lash out when its validity is questioned.

It’s been a while but it definitely doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. It’s really good

I think the wide range of speaker types is also a factor. Both for the consumer, and for those mastering the audio.

Not sure if OP has been living in a cave or just came out of a coma after 5 years, but most, or all of these shows are pretty well known.
Also, don’t get all the love for Mindhunter. Plot is slow as hell and the lead and his gf are not good actors. The bar scene between them was terrible and hard to watch.

Criminally underrated this one, i binged it so fast and it takes you through all ranges of emotions and have you questioning your morality, acting is on point and so wholesome

A lot of the ones on broadcast claimed to be educational because of the morals taught. If you ever watched Disney's One Saturday Morning, that's what the light bulb coming in at the end of the theme song and the announcer saying "in illuminating television" was about.
