He gives the viewer just the right mix of misogyny and racism without feeling guilty about it. Plus, now that he beats the others in the ratings, watching him owns the libs.

Reply to Future-Set Hello Tomorrow! Is Another Unique, (Qualified) Success for Apple TV+ by PetyrDayne
Just looking at overall sentiment and user reviews on multiple online sites, this show is likely be canceled on any other network. It's Apple though and they don't care about making money on AppleTV+ so who knows. Maybe it is a success for them.
At least the reviews are decent.

I love that people are calling Apple risk takers. Are they making high quality good shit? Yeah. They are a trillion dollar company, their TV brand is probably less than 1 percent of their earnings. They can afford to take huge swings.

Never fully trust r/television when it comes to any minority led tv show.

For me Sopranos has the best ending of any show, but SFU still deserves to be on the podium. Such a shame HBO doesn't produce godlike shows anymore.

They became a slog. A lot of the episodes had a 3-4 minute intro with only music playing and nobody saying anything. Plus the storylines were trash and some characters were killed off too late (or not at all).

I remember this WW2 miniserie from the early eighties that had incredibly long episodes, like I would fall asleep on the carpet under the table for two hours (was a lad at the time) and wake up with dad and mum still watching it. Winds of War is the name, I believe

No? Just speaking of a handful but For All Mankind, Ted Lasso, the Cleon plot of Foundation, Shrinking and more are all really great (and Hello Tomorrow is also setting up to be at least cozy good). When AppleTV was announced years ago I had my bias set to "I hope this doesn't work out," but like I genuinely have to admit that Apple pumps out quality television. That and it's more and more feeling like one of the last bastions and safety nets for high-budget scifi, given all the cuts and cancellations going across services like HBO Max.
It's one thing for me to have gone into AppleTV expecting little but I am happy to admit I was wrong, they've genuinely won me over with their output.

It's intentional. They all used to be better. YouTube before monetization was absolutely amazing and had the best recommendations ever. You would get lost down the YouTube rabbit hole for days. Netflix OG ratings system also generated fantastic recommendations. It was actually one of their original selling points, that's how good it was.
I'm not sure why exactly it's more profitable to push shit ratings and recommendations, but it clearly is because all these corporations have made very deliberate decisions to do so. They don't care about our user experience so long as it's just good enough to stick around. And in Netflix case, the lack of quality recommendations probably helps obfuscate the lack of depth and quality they actually offer. I'm sure it's not a coincidence their recommendation algorithm kicked ass back in the DVD rental days but sucks now that their streaming options are limited.

I guess House is meant to be ambivalent, same with Don Draper who is perhaps one of the worst men in the history of tv, and he doesn't even have House's best qualities; at least he heals people, Draper's mission is to make money

One of the many things I don't understand about how GoT ended. Who thought it was a good idea to throw away 7 seasons of character development, and pretty much turn him back into who he was on episode 1?

I have a great idea for you OP, you'll thank me later, here goes:
Whenever she complains about sexism on the TV, just say to her "Honey, it could be worse". Pull out your Licenced To Ill album and play her Girls by the Beastie Boys.
Girls, to do the dishes... Girls, to clean up my room... Girls, to do the laundry... Girls, and in the bathroom... Girls, that's all I really want is girls.

Should be a message to give shows a chance if they're receiving critical attention. I think Bryan cranston winning those emmys nearly every year kept it going
