I don't care if they're Apple. If I was working for a company that mandated back to office, I'd be leaving. After working from home for three years straight, I see no value for me returning to the office.

Actually, I don't see any value for the company either, because my productivity will probably take a hit, and my flexibility to work outside my given hours would completely die.

All this does is validate the telecom business model is an outdated system.

Internet is a utility. The global economy would have collapsed if we didn't have internet infrastructure which allowed people to work from home. It's a matter of public need, not a perk of a privilege lifestyle.

The government needs to transition into a municipal approach to the service and stop treating it like a private thing. It's a utility. Treat it like a utility.

I’m the opposite. I’m 28 and know a lot of people including myself that suffered a mental health crisis from social media consumption and I don’t touch it with a 10 foot pole now. No regrets, holy hell did that shit consume me and others. I’m glad to be more rooted in the physical world now, it has brought me an immense amount more happiness.

I know very few people that talk about the app or care about it in a meaningful way, I cannot imagine people my age lashing out at a ban whatsoever. Adults have more important things going on and there are dozens of alternatives that aren’t owned by a country that views us as it’s mortal enemy and banned our social media without hesitation.

We are drastically overestimating the backlash to this decision to ban them, which is a prudent decision based on the CCPs own statements, countless vague threats and aggressive anti-democracy and U.S. rhetoric

I seriously don't get this. The main buzz words I hear about return to office are "collaboration" and "socialization" and it's like.... We're a freaking tech company... It's literally what we do, virtually... As in online, not in front of people.

Productivity goes up with WFH.

Better work/life balance.

Less burnout/worker fatigue.

No commuting means less expenses, and less risk of accidents caused by fatigued drivers.

I was in the same place as you recently until this just clicked for me. We enjoy knocking shit off the list and doing things for the team. We’re good at it and the team knows it. A lot of times the team and middle managers are also inundated with crazy CEOs spouting ambitious visions and shit that they now have to provide a plan for, so they go dump a bunch of half assed ideas on “doer” teams who now have to make sense of the gobbledegook so middle manager cna make their PowerPoint. Society is manic af right now.

He should realize that’s very bad news for him. The kids are the ones that will raise a stink on this, the adults will see this for what it is and move on to another app. Kids also have extremely little influence on our society.

TikTok/CCP realllllyyy misread the US response to this. They screwed up doubly with the balloon incident. Congress just galvanized around this in bipartisan showing, there will be more resolve now to do something about TikTok. I would not have imagined this was possible 2 months ago.

> people being in the office leads to better team work and innovation

Not when you force people to be there and they know they they have the backs of their 29,999 peers; this is how you get your company sabotaged.... work slowwwww. Mess things up. Oopsies! Guess office work isn’t as efficient and now things are broken. Shucks.

Just work as long as you feel is good days’ work and then stop. If deadlines are missed, they’re missed. Don’t fret. If they fire you, they fire you, but it sounds like they really need you, otherwise you wouldn’t have all this work.

Don’t be rude about it and don’t say “no” ever. Just say, “yes, I can have it done by [whenever you can have it done by] and leave it at that. If they say, “that’s not good enough”, repeat yourself: “I understand; I can definitely get it to you by [repeat time period].

Don’t internalize the stress. You’re looking to “get everything done” instead of “working a 40-50”. Do the latter; stop worrying about the former. You will miss deadlines. It happens. Just be positive and never say, “no”; always make it positive sounding.

“Over 200 HOAs nationwide have bought and installed….”

Absolute bullocks right there. Add a few zeros. I’ve seen probably more than 200 HOAs/neighborhoods with this abomination of a company all over neighborhoods in the metro area I live in. Intercept might want to “investigate” again.

I’ve been complaining about this shit company for years and 99 out of 100 people I talk to “don’t care because they have nothing to hide”

It should 100% be illegal for anyone except governments to have access to this. I dislike governments having access but I know that is just a given at this point they would have it.

HOAs (and funny any individual can buy Flock) should not have the ability to track people, setup tracking of certain plates, etc.

I so hope this company eventually goes bankrupt (but sadly I know they won’t)

True, 'average' can be vague. If TikTok had every American under the age of 18, it would still have the average user as adult since only 73 million are below 18. Given they have 150 million Americans users, the average being of voting age is the only conclusion. While the document goes into great detail about how TikTok protects children and the privacy rights of all Americans, the paper presented to Congress led by stating that their American users are adults, hence of voting age, regardless of whether we look at it as the mean, median, or multi-modal distribution.

And that is why they are failing.

The Tesla build quality has improved considerably in the last few years. The Model 3 is now one of the most reliable EVs you can buy. The model Y has also improved greatly.

Where the other manufacturers are aspiring to in 3-5 years is where Tesla was 5 years ago. Toyota recently did a teardown of a model y and came to the conclusion that Tesla had superior manufacturing and that Toyota needs to completely rethink its process if wants to keep up.

If legacy doesn't get its act together and fast a bunch are going out of business.
