Just this month was I able to order a PS5 from Amazon without having to resort to buying an overpriced one from some rando reseller or to being in the right Best Buy at the right time. The damned thing came out over two years ago!

I wonder how America would ever compete on the low end. There are 10 cent Risc-V microcontrollers available. It's kind of wild

That's pretty difficult in the UK, because most energy is used for heating. You can do OK in the summer though.

Regardless of what it actually is, many console customers are on console specifically for the certainty of compatibility for X amount of time. Start making it like pc and people will stop buying.

No, because that was just one short period.
Rates aren't going to go down for decades, because even after we've built enough turbines to replace all the existing power stations, we'll still need to build enough to drive our vehicles, heat our buildings and replace gas and coal use in industry.
We've all gotten too used to cheap, dirty power.

The United States is in a considerably better position than China right now. There are not many analysts that think China is well positioned for the future. Their entire economy is reliant on US business and more importantly the US currency.
Sure, it might be a totalitarian lunatic in charge of the United States but that would just put them on the same footing as China has been in for like…. Ever.

That's just the gas that is used to generate electricity. The UK uses a lot of gas for heating too, especially at this time of year.
