Is this about the hacker who did a data dump on his ransomware gang over a pay dispute or something different?
EDIT: okay, read the article, this is something different. But there was a hacker for a ransomware group (I forget if it was Conti or some other group) who basically published all their internal data online because he was upset with the crappy pay and working conditions they imposed on him.

The only question is whether he did got rid of it deliberately as part of his effort to crack down on anybody pushing back against the powerful, or if it just broke because he's burning the building down over there.

The basic thing was that you could not bring internet with you.
Thus it was something you engaged with deliberately.
Now it is in your pocket all day.

Here’s what it’s trained on - from their paper which I cant link to because of arbitrary Reddit mod rules but this looks like an extremely cool project

Reddit is a bit different, as it leans closer to webforums and usenet.
This in large part thanks to having little to no focus on "you", including little in the way of a user profile.
Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, etc etc etc, is all about "you". Getting your idealized self out there in image and video.

Pretty sure that chats are auto disappearing in most apps. It's just how modern software works. Thanks to snap and frivolous lawsuits.

The luddites down voting us are probably the same sort of people that believed that computers were just a novelty, or the Internet was just going to be a thing for nerds and nothing important.
Most people hate the idea of it because they were told to hate it.
The reality is NFTs are the future. It’s not even the proof of ownership thing. We’ve only just begun exploring what they can be used for. DAO crowd funding with dividends? They can do that.
Proof of ownership? Sure.
Contain art or utility software? Absolutely. Act as digital access points with improved controls? Or even a digital key to physical controls?Certainly.
There’s possibly use cases for overhauling national elections to be something… with both complete anonymity and transparency.
Right now in the us… how do you know your vote was counted? really counted ? And counted correctly ?
That potential is probably what scares people the most.

Because back then it was about pseudonymity, the old quip about "nobody knows you're a dog" etc.
Now it has become all about self marketing, brand and identity.
Everyone is trying to become some kind of internet celebrity.
Thing is that history has a long long list of the damage celebrity attention can do to a young mind.

Perhaps - but the logs of said conversations might still be discovered by time travelling artificial intelligence to compile a "social" score, if you will, on humans...

The possibilities really are endless. It's this blind hivemind mentality that concerns me that 1984 can become a reality.
