Not related to AirTags actually but the find my network also alerts you to AirPods that are travelling with you but aren’t registered to you or your family sharing plan. So whenever they get in the car with their AirPods I get the same stupid alerts, every damn time.

This to me is the game changer that will make Apple or whoever figures this out infinitely rich. If someone can build a wearable that can do blood pressure monitoring, which shouldn't be hard considering there's already wrist devices, and blood sugar monitoring they'll be infinitely rich.

Something called Beer’s Law will prevent this from being true. You need to know the path length to determine the concentration and that has always been why noninvasive continuous glucose monitors fail….unless calibrated and the only way to calibrate is with a finger stick. This has been attempted 1,000 times before. I highly doubt they have found a workaround for this.

If buying an E-class Benz doesn't turn on Narcissist Mode, I dunno what does.

I'm gonna need an ai to figure out what stories I like reading most.
I guess they might as well create them while they are at it. I'll be curated into my own little whirlpool of culture.
Could be with time, people interlope into my taste stream and find it refreshing. Then I'll charge them for the pleasure...

Interesting theory. But still, they could have leaned into another trend like glassmorphism or Neumorphism or made their own style.

I'd never use language as strong as obsolescence, I think that software engineering roles will be some of the last to go. A lot of the work people do in web development will be fairly quick to go though, and it will go the same way us as software engineers reduce the need for labour in other sectors. For most roles it won't be one fell swoop where a machine replaces you 1:1, it will be enhanced efficiency that means you need less engineers for the same job. I don't think it will be very long before most front end jobs will be replaced by UX/UI people that can input their desires into the tools they already use and the code is then generated for them. For backend jobs, your basic API development that is pulling data from a DB will also dry up. For web development I think it's a good bet to get into roles where you are generating insights into the data your org works with. There will also be integration work that lasts a lot longer than the two easy wins I mentioned.
At the end of your day, we'll still be very necessary, but the job market will become a lot more competitive as the number of engineers required is reduced.

I was shocked the fake startup wasn’t Theranos, but then I remembered how much of a mess they were. Salvaging anything from them would be a long shot.

I’m not following. Does your son have an AirTag on him that isn’t his? If it’s his and tied to his Apple ID it shouldn’t notify you at all as long as he’s in the vicinity.
If it’s not his then that’s like the exact thing Apple says you cannot use them for.

I don’t think you’ve ever used an Apple family account with shared devices if you’re saying this. It’s not possible. It’s annoying as hell too when my wife think her car keys are stalking her because we share vehicles

It would be in person use in the class. Phones are already “banned” in person. With a combination of Covid skill losses and massive cheating, I don’t think I want any work completed outside of the classroom.

We have one on our dog as a precaution and because we got a 4 pack and it was an extra. So why not. It is annoying thought that even though my wife and I are in the “family” I can’t share tags with her. We swap cars all the time and we have air tags on the keys. Both registered under my account but items we both use regularly and I’m sure many others out there do a similar set up. I wish they just added the convenience of having tags be shared with family already.

Google Results have stopped being relevant for quite some time and I have found myself using it less and less.
A few days ago I was looking for a specific population statistics, I just asked ChatGPT and it gave me the answer + the link to the original source material.
Google is really in big trouble. I’m fed up with trying to get through ads and shitty websites that managed to game the search engine algorithms.

Doesn’t help me, my phone is a work phone so I cannot invite my kids to family sharing. Every time I travel in the car with them and their AirPods my phone tells me someone is stalking me.

You can only suppress it for 24 hours. It drives me mad as every time I have my son in the car it tells Me someone is tracking me.
I believe if they are part of your family sharing plan you can disable it but my phone is a work phone so I can’t create a family sharing plan and add them. It’s super annoying because you cannot dismiss the alert unless you click on it and let it open the app and show you the map.
