Well at least the cushy work culture makes up for it.

Adjusted for inflation the price is about accurate.

Yea, and they are losing talent because of it. Myself and a few others have jumped ship due to a destroyed stock plan and miniscule raises. I thought they might issue more stock this year to make up for it, but apparently not. Guess I made the right call.

> Our compensation model is intended to encourage employees to think like owners
How about the owners think of them as employees. If they were receiving competitive compensation before, that means the competition will now scoop them up.

Hell yes, I remember running a band of PKers that were hated on Chesapeake. Now that was a hell of a game. Once you were branded a murderer, you could no longer go into cities, so you had to hunt people to get reagents for casting spells and such. And if you were a hero who had just slayed a mighty foe and got an awesome new weapon, you better get your ass to a city before an evil person found you and took it and everything else you owned.

Sounds like it is a partnership
if you use their services then you are willingly participating
and I’m not gonna do the whole argument about social media value but I can confidently say millions have found massive profound joy from it but yes extreme bullshit happens there too

I found an unopened i486 processor in my parents garage last year. Someone on Ebay was going to give me $22 for it!

My buddy did it with Pokemon cards about 10 years ago. He invested most of his savings into a few decks of top graded cards (like 5k at the time). When he first told us about it we all obviously thought he was fucking insane. They are now worth tens, if not hundreds of thousands lol.
He has a charizard card alone that is worth more than my entire life 😂 Apparently Logan Paul did a ring walk to a fight with one of his old cards (he sold it to the seller who then sold it to him) which subsequently went for something silly like 100k.

So true. I wanted to buy some Pokémon games I had as a kid and was flabbergasted by the prices.

The prototypes for the first iPhone never left the Apple campus. Heck, they never went far inside the campus either. They were in a sectioned off area where only people who were working on the device were allowed.

Very few people would use Facebook as a paid service. Corporations and self-promoters would pay to have a little symbol beside their name and to have their posts algorithmically boosted. But I doubt Meta would ever try to make the general public pay, because it would accelerate the collapse of their user base.

Yes and this is good for the world. By moving back to a paid subscriber model, websites and forums will closely resemble the magazines they were generated from. This will give smaller ones the ability to exist independent of Facebook, as they can just charge a lower price than Facebook and finance content moderation/curation.
