It's not about the specific ability so much as a much broader concept: that AI can be incredibly fast. Yes, maybe humans are good enough at this one specific thing that it doesn't matter much. It's still a good proof-of-concept that demonstrates AI can work very quickly, and that will apply to tasks and fields where there are no such caveats as what you applied to this situation.

Who is going to buy their products?
Also, TRUE wealth is the ability to make the world into what you want it to be. Money is only useful insomuch as it lets you shape the world, whether that is through transforming a building into your dwelling or convincing a senator to pass a law you like.
The only reason we dislike billionaires is because their wealth gives them outsized influence on society. If all it did was buy them extra stuff no one would care.

I think it was the mention of retirees going back to work that made everyone think you were on the side of people need bosses and paychecks to feel valuable.

Traveling and if possible space exploration

You aren't reading.
There will be no "unaugmented humans" which is to say no people NOT using the AI.
There will still be humans for now.

If society gets to a point where we don't need people to work anymore and society makes me do useless busy work I am gonna lose my mind.

I mean... This is very cool that the AI can do this classification from imaging, but it's not really revolutionary. Humans can also do it, and of course can also just do a molecular test in a couple of days that is even more accurate. I'm not downplaying the advance, but the title makes it seem like something it isn't.

Or using the military to systematically remove them. 50/50 chance it breaks either way.

The resulting malpractice lawsuits will be insane. Hospitals will need to carry insurance indemnifying them for potential billions.

Another method of compressing is using a shorthand middle interpreter that takes out vowels that are not necessary for interpretation ( some removal makes it ambiguous) , using Huffman compression, or doing things like possibly training the network on compressed data and passing inputs as compressed data, there are even better middle ground compression methods than Huffman ( spell) algorithms and types of look up table substitutions. I have another method I theorize is far better but can’t yet prove it, two methods actually, that get closer to the entropy limit of compression, financial constraints, there are however other limits to developing a AGI that too are possible to overcome, but should we is the big question.

Its a weird lifetime. In the 70s, 80s you could ran your life against a wall at 30, 40 or 50 and thats it game over and waiting for the end. Right now its like a personal quantum condition where all outcomes are possible.

There's still that 5-10% in the diagnostic process that involves physical interactions. An AI can't currently do the basics like using a stethoscope, shine a light down your throat or feel up your body. We'd need robotics to catch up for that

if you are worried about redundant peoples being too passive in a new society you could systematically remove them by putting them in the military.

Prior to COVID, math scores in the US were consistently trending upward for 20 years. COVID definitely knocked everything off track, but I don’t think your statement is true in general.

We have to make it up there in a cost efficient manner for it to be usable.
That’s a long ways away.
But what the heck. Elon Musk is taking the lead on getting us there. I’m sure everyone on Reddit will be ecstatic if he succeeds and becomes the world’s first trillionaire.

I am going to spend my days creating. To think you don't need to worry about recharge from work. Not pausing idea because you need to go to sleep for work. Or simple lose an idea because you are at work and can't create.
Instead just spend days and night endless creating for no other person then to fill your soul.
And best of all not being limited by the lack of training instead using AI to fill in any gaps. Today write, tomorrow paint and maybe day after that create a song.

dont be so confident though. those docs won't give up their power (and their undeserved extremely high wages) easily.
it will be a long fight against those blood suckers.

I'm sympathetic to the argument that we should still have make-work jobs for unaugmented humans so that they don't become completely passive, but jobs where there are actual lives on the line like civil engineer and prosecutor and physician and teacher ain't it.

I am so opposed to make-work jobs. If we can support all of humanity then we MUST do so. People can take up hobbies (and should be encouraged to) like painting and running.
As for the fact that it will one day be immoral to let humans do work which puts them in charge of human life, instead of leaving it to a more competent computer, I completely agree.
