It's like Black mirror episode stretched to full length Tv show. Probably the best sci-fi dystopian psychological horror with very gripping theme and tense atmosphere. On surface it wouldn't look much but man the story is second to none! I bet you'll be on your toes until the very last moment of it's first season. It's a must watch for every sci-fi fan.

neither urban nor rural. urbanization is finished.

there's nowhere to go but up

we do not continue living under 4,000 miles of atmospheric pressure -- the stage of domesticated primates has been completed

we move into high orbit and evolve into an immortal species

this technology allows for the amount of intelligence increase necessary for space migration

Also try Severance, it's like Black mirror episode adapted to full length Tv show. If I were to place Severance in my ranking of black mirror episodes it would be no. 1. Even thinking about Severance makes me extremely sad and depressed, the story is very gripping, the thrill and suspense will be with you until the very last moment of the show and even after that the melancholy will be stuck with you as you wait for it's next season.

Eh.. not entirely true. People will still want to live somewhat in the city. Lots of people would hate living where I do "in a corn field" where you have to drive for 40 minutes to go to the closest resteraunt.

Also, MAYBE farmland is replaced by precision fermentation.. But you forget the point of agi is to allow people to do what they want.. Farmers will still exist because there will always be a demand by the masses for food grown by real people.

Cities need to spread out a bit, so people aren't stacked on top of one another.. But I think most city folks want to be close to their favorite restsraunt, and to not have to worry about their dog getting eaten by a rogue black bear or mountain lion.

Certain things won't change in the countryside, because people won't allow them to be changed. I'm not gonna be okay with you using agi to kill all mountain lions in the area, they are an important part of the environment, event if they are sometimes terrifying.

Makes sense, with AI it would be possible to tutor kids anywhere and administer remote medicine where doctors are not present. I would not want to raise kids in a place where they don't have access to education and medicine, or where there are no playmates.

Just because it is a plot device in StarTrek, and in physics scientists demonstrated they could "teleport" a particle, it doesn't mean it will be possible to teleport a human. What they teleport is not the particle but its quantum state. If in general, you want to read the quantum state of something you destroy it.

I’m just going to list what hasn’t already been said: Total Recall (1990), Minority Report. The most eerie eye opening one for me was the HBO documentary: The Truth About Killer Robots (don’t be fooled by the name, it’s not what you think ie. Robocop or iRobot etc) it’s a bit slow to start, as it progressively show you how far and fast Ai is rapidly changing the world we once knew. Highly Recommend.

Edit: a few I forgot about more along the lines of singularity; Gattaca, The Island, In Time, Fahrenheit 451 (2018)

(Ex-machina & Her are goated imho)

Getting rich of stocks isn't hoarding anything. That wealth doesn't actually exist, is all based on how much they could theoretically make on the open market if they sold their stocks. Of course if he did sell those socks they would lose value.

The government could choose to prioritize taking care of it's citizens. Those of us in democracies could view for politicians who support these priorities (and I do). Unfortunately we, as a country, don't view for these politicians. The existence of philanthropists isn't causing the government to do anything.

The ideal situation is that a democratically rejected and accountable government should be doing this work. They aren't though so someone needs to step into the breach.

The misalignment is of course undesirable but to act as if it's some evil plot is ridiculous. His work on ending malaria will do more to help humanity than we can possibly imagine. Tackling the single biggest cause of human death is more than enough to justify his philanthropy.
