Funny how the guys warning of how AGI will jump to conclusions want to proof this by jumping to conclusions. It's sufficient that the owner of the AI will keep it existing so that it can archive it's goal. It doesn't mean that it could do anything if the instance would get deleted or that it wanted to.
> Let's say your boss tells you to do a certain task.
Doesn't automatically mean you would destroy mankind if that would be necessary. You would just tell him that it's not possible or way more difficult, or that it would require breaking laws and rules.

No. We will get there before the singularity

The thing that keeps me somewhat optimistic is that overall, technology has helped us much more than it has hurt us. Let's try to make that trend continue.

good book just out of date and a good chunk of his predictions have been incorrect. ray kurzweil is a big inspiration of mine but sometimes he is off.

my definition is an AI that can recursively & exponentially improve itself to a point that human intelligence isn't qualified to make decisions

Why would anyone be able to answer this? If you don't know you don't know that you don't know.

I agree, although when I began writing on these topics recently I have been somewhat hopeful as more people are aware of concerns than I had anticipated.
There is an enormous hype storm right now, but I see a bit of reality and more careful reflection joining conversations. Hopefully with enough discussion and dialog we can bring as much reason as possible into focus.
FYI, in the event you are interested. This is a bit lengthy, but it is a summary of some recent thoughts about the evolution of AI as we continue to push forward in this endeavor. I'm always looking for more feedback and conversation.

Thing is I vote yes but I’m not sure what it really means ,and I feel like nobody can predict it when prognoses and guesses are just not good enough to be capable of understanding what is really about to happen ,I’m aware and lost at the same time

All I know is there is a lot of inherent uncertainty.
Your predictions aren't entirely baseless, but neither are those of people like Yudkowsky or those who predict collapse.
And fundamentally I don't know if you grasp human nature enough.

Lol. Hate crimes have an actual definition to them, it’s not just a guess. Google it if you want. This is the best days we have.
You can’t just say “eh I don’t believe data, so you’re probably wrong”.
I also recommend not going around saying so confidently “that’s not true!” When you clearly haven’t researched a topic u/zero0n3. Research first, always.
Anyway, have a good day. You can choose not to believe it if you want.

Meta offers the model weights themselves. If you have access, there's quite literally nothing they can do about it being mean or not

I would be so upset if I saw my race second to disabled people in terms of hateful speech. I live in a pretty damn white part of my city, and I’ve NEVER witnessed an act of racism to a black person. I’ve seen way more against Hispanics. I can’t but think the whole BLM stuff is mostly a cash grab on some level.

Yeah by the 2030s we will overhaul the whole concept of economics, property ownership, taxes, etc. Rich people will be absorbed by the singularity and will just have to go with that. Construction and other forms of labor will be done by robot. And so on and so on. Where do people like you come from? You really believe this? Wait around and do nothing. Don’t worry soon you won’t have responsibilities and you’ll live in a AI utopia.
The technology is nowhere that close. But even if it were, people don’t change that fast. The people with the money don’t mind you fantasizing on reddit. But watch yourself.

I'm one generation older than you and lots of us folks hate it too, believe me you're not alone.
>my generation (gen z) is literally the most depressed and stupid
They're not stupid, they're suffering. Ignorance is often caused by that.
Hopefully both our generations see the end of this.
