For what it's worth, I experimented a little with ChatGPT to write a 7000 word hard-boiled detective story. My main rule was that I couldn't write any original content myself - I was exclusively the editor.

I started with eliciting the stages of a detective story and then got ChatGPT to detail a plot based on those. Then I asked it to write individual scenes for each plot beat. Then I had it revise to correct inconsistencies and get the hard-boiled style down.

The process took maybe two or three hours. Compared to a human writer the result was mediocre and full of cliches. But... it was a recognizable story with plot and characters and it was mostly coherent. It was also a lot of fun to coach into existence.

From that experience, well, we're definitely not at the point where something like ChatGPT can write fiction coherently on its own for longer than a few pages and even with significant coaching, the results are "low human." But from this point to super-human? Who knows?

Might not take that long...

AFAIU they made a neuron-like transistor based on organic compounds like sodium. I guess it can speedup AI neural network training, lower their cost and/or be integrated in living organisms.

What is the point of that? You would stop to be a human doing such thing anyway. Your personality would seize to exist

An AI that reaches singularity has god like levels of intelligence and understand within years.

Your brain would not be capqble to compute the data, it would need some upgrade to catch up.

Modern farming isn't isolated. Supply chain collapse means farming collapse as well. Farming equipment, fertilizers, energy and water all have to be self sufficient for your plan. Something that's out of reach for many.

Even if you did, there is still the need of security. Some people or even the government can simply take over.

I think the main difference is the material definition and specularity. Using ray tracing allows for complex visual effects and material rendering (such as the glass ball on the cards) which fake 3d photos cannot reproduce. It also seems to be able to do it in video, which is a big step up due to how many different frames it's rendering!

No.

We've had more than enough technological advances in the past 50 years for us to all be working 10 hour weeks and making more money than we do now. But the capitalists that frankly are worshipped in this sub invent new ways to keep us enslaved. Of course their fanboys would never call their enslavement what it is. Just another market force as far as they are concerned.
