Reply to Richmond Times-Dispatch: Tysons food facility in Glen Allen to close, 700 workers to be impacted according to union by whw53
Big oof.
At least Bear Island is spinning back up, and Lego is projecting to open their plant in Chester next year sometime, so the folks working there have some options short term and long term.
Last I checked the Lego factory is going to be hiring ~1700 employees
I’ve also been seeing a fair number of ads for jobs at Gerdau in Petersburg

People in Glen Allen must be making too much money to be worth the convenience at this point.

Consolidating operations so existing plants run full capacity

The article is paywalled, I think. Does it say why they are closing that plant? I actually recently started driving by that plant pretty frequently.

Have you tried contacting Medicaid Virginia about help finding a provider?

Wow, I’m so impressed with your efforts. I’m sorry I have no advice, but I wanted to “bump” your post. I have family/friends who’ve struggled greatly with substance abuse issues and been to inpatient care but with insurance. Somebody mentioned Tucker’s and I wonder if there is a social worker you could talk to there. Have you tried posting in the greater VA area sub?

Congrats on your clean time! I'm honestly not sure that you'd qualify for inpatient at this point. There's a manual that all the facilities use to make decisions on level of care. Have you looked into intensive outpatient programs? They're 9-19 hours a week so there would still be structure. Partial hospitalization programs are typically 20 hrs a week. RBHA should have at least linked you to case management or peer recovery support so they could help you with this process.

I have friends who had better luck in more advanced states like California. May be worth looking outside of Virginia. We are mid level when it comes to caring for our own.
I know it's a cost barrier but you may be able to fly somewhere and get out of your comfort region.
Keep up the good fight.

Yeah, I can still smell that smell and I barely have to drive out that way anymore, so terrible. I do feel for the people who lost their jobs on such short notice.

Grew up in a small town that had a poultry plant and whenever I visit in the summer it’s absolutely horrible. My first job was actually working there one summer. I would take chicken pieces off the line and be covered in chicken fat, bits and pieces of chicken, and oil from the birds.
The money was really good for someone who had no degree or job experience but it inspired me to go to college.

that probably depends on if they're dependent on a job there or not.

Wish I had info to help, but I just wanted to say I’m impressed by how hard you’re advocating for yourself. I hope you find something soon. Good luck and good work!

Hi! First off, congrats on being sober for over a month! So, it looks like your situation is tough, because not a lot of places accept Medicaid, as you've mentioned. Have you looked at Tucker Pavilion/Chippenham Hospital? They have a partial hospitalization program (so, not perfect, but better than nothing ig) and accept medicaid. I do not know whether or not they have methadone maintenance. Another option, still not a great one, is New Season (newseason dot org). They accept medicaid and do methadone maintenance, as well as counseling/therapy, but are outpatient focused. Apologies in advance if you've tried these two places already. Wishing you the best luck!

Interesting! I drive by it often, it smells so awful in the summer that I imagine the people living nearby will be glad for it to close. I wonder what they will do with the current factory - it didn’t say in the article.

Performance is great, of course, but I feel like their software is a step behind Tesla, and may be a few others. And since it’s a “1.0“ product I suspect there will be gradual improvements in the years to come.

Who is your MCO? You should have a care coordinator or can get one assigned who can help you with finding a treatment provider.
