If we exhumed every corpse from there, got rid of the gravestones but retained some built structures, and named the area "cool nice place park" the benefits would be the same --- This has everything to do with how its designed environment, and nothing to do with the fact that dead people lay there.

Compare Maury cemetary to Hollywood.Or compare Hollywood to the cementary literally right next to it. Hollywood is nice because its got all the things a good park has --- a built environment, trees and shade, and easy proximity to amenities.

Whereas Maury is next to nothing, has zero trees and shade, and effectively no built environment. Riverview Cemetery has 1 of the 3 things.....similar proximity to actual social life, but lacks any trees and built environment.

The lesson is that cemetery's can be good parks, if they're designed like good parks.

There ain't nobody going for a stroll around Maury Cemetery, or playing football with their kid or whatever.

it is bad because he overpaid for the real estate and then did nothing with it. So all of the people that could have theoretically invested into that neighborhood were priced out and had to pick through worse lots.

08 of course spread everywhere but was residential single family home focused where as hilde's fallout is commercial.

oh this is kinda familiar. idk what a reverse mortgage bond is, or really what a bond is except its not exactly what it was designed to be as i learned in civics class, but it sounds like he fucked over some banks, which who cares, but is bad because he abused ill-gotten leverage to become a super landlord with waaaay too many assets for one guy? looks like he figured this plan around the 08 housing boom n bust, so i get why rule abiding greedy flippers would be salty

I did CSA from Amy’s Garden for 2 years and it was great. They do weekly pickup at Birdhouse Market every Tuesday and they have a lovely flower add-on. Not sure how their prices compare to others mentioned here though! Btw, Birdhouse is a very sweet midweek market without the parking issues and crowds of Bryan park (also a little closer to Church Hill!).

I have to agree with this. So I live in Midlothian and had previously looked at places in Scotts Addition and the fan. I also live in a large complex, not small privately owned apartment.

My rent over a year ago was $1325 for 880 square feet. 1 bedroom 1 bath, patio, high ceilings, dishwasher, microwave, a large island, and everything is pretty new as the complex was built in 2019ish. Rent has now gone up an additional $200 (which is fair given inflation, and a typical amount for renewals). Just for comparison, a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom is $2095-$3425 and all are 1,500 square feet - with all the same amenities as mine.

Our additional fees:

  • pet owners pay $25 a month, there is also an upfront fee that’s no refundable which is crazy. I want to say it’s $200
  • mandatory trash collection (they pickup your trash bags outside of your apartment) $8
  • Options for a storage center and a few others that I don’t use , but are offered

Square footage DEFINITELY matters when considering how much you’re paying for your space. Which is why I stayed away from apartments in Scotts and other Richmond areas. They were asking the same price (and often more) for 500-700 square feet.
